From my Google Reader –
I want to go to this party at Bees and Fleur de lis’ house. I want to decorate my backdoor just like hers. And I want go inside for a couple Spicy Chicken Wontons. That’s all. (image from her blog)
Questions from a reader –
I know you are good at the budgeting stuff so do you have any good ideas or cute items you use to make your budget? I thought something fun might make it a “fun” task to tackle!
If JH is reading, he’s probably shaking his head right now. I’m not really a budget-er. Well I am when it comes to other people’s parties (or our wedding) but as for everyday life… I’m far far far from an expert. When it comes to the finances of our household, I am not really involved. We had this discussion long before we even thought about getting engaged. It works for us. I still need to learn to save more but for the most part our plan works.
On the other hand, I can knock a party budget out of the park! For example, a few years back a client called, she need to throw a birthday party for her husband. She gave me a $15,000 budget. Once the party was over we came in $1,500 under budget and the party was a giant success. We had budgeted for everything down to the ribbon to tie the thank you tags to the dessert boxes. You must include everything down to the last penny. Don’t brush anything under the rug, it will hurt worse in the end!
In my response to Becky, I included a couple of links that I’ve heard (from others) are helpful in the budget/saving department — Mint.com & Real Simple Work & Life section + mobile app.
From my inbox to yours, Happy Wednesday!

Love the October bberry background! Thanks for sharing!! I have that large baking dish (in a buttery yellow) and I love it! The size is great! I also have a loaf pan size but don’t use that one as often. Have a great day!

The swag over that back door is simply amazing! I also want to bookmark this for my husband so he knows to throw me a $15,000 birthday party one of these years, haha!
