On Friday I documented our day with iPhone photos so I could post a “day in the life of” post. Lots of bloggers have done these types of posts and I always enjoy reading how other spend most of their days. Unfortunately, Friday was not a typical day for us. I’ll have to do this again on a day I’m at home most of the day. A normal day for us is somewhere in between Thursday’s post and today’s post.
7:00 a.m. – I’m still striving to get up at least 30 minutes before Jack but on Friday that did not happen. Our precious little alarm clock named Jack woke us up with his sweet sounds from his crib.
We switch off depending on who has what going on that morning. Whoever gets Jack, changes his diaper and feeds him his breakfast bottle. The other person normally makes coffee and get themselves ready first.
8:00 – 10:00 a.m. – We watch the news, have coffee, play with Jack and JH and I both get ready for the day. Most days my mornings are flexible but it’s not always that way. On Friday Jack and I both had to be ready by 10 because we took a little day trip to Kentucky with my mom.
Did you watch Regis and Kelly on Friday for Regis’ last day? I did and I cried too.
While watching Regis and Kelly, I put my make up on, did my hair, got dressed and got Jack’s bag packed for the day. JH dressed Jack and continued activity time with him. *This picture was before my hair was done, in case you were wondering.
This picture makes me laugh because JH calls my cream blush my “war paint.”
10:00 a.m. – We were in the car and heading to KY for a quick shopping trip. Jack loves the car. As soon as the car moves he goes to sleep. So normally I try to plan travel time around his eating schedule. He normally takes a little nap from 9 – 10:30 a.m. so I knew I could stretch his next feeding to 11:00. We’re only about 45 minutes from Kentucky.
A little before 11:00 a.m. – We arrived and fed Jack right away. He was happy as could be in his stroller with his monkey lovie!
11:00 – 12:00 p.m. – We accomplished two stops on our list and then it was time for us to eat lunch.
12:30 p.m. – We took the opportunity to enjoy a little Chick-fil-A. We don’t have CFA in our area.
1:00 – 2:00 p.m. – We made a few stops in the mall and it was time to feed Jack again.
2:00 p.m. – Jack enjoyed his afternoon bottle at Dillards. Kiks was trying on dresses for a wedding she and my dad are attending this weekend.
3:00 – 4:00 p.m. – We safely drove home.
4:00 – 5:00 p.m. – Jack continued to nap once we arrived home so I sat down at my computer to answer comments and emails. JH called to tell me he was bringing Mexican home for dinner. Fun and yummy!
5:00 p.m. – Jack woke up and it was time for his supper feeding. I fed him and then JH and I ate our dinner. He used to sit in the bouncy seat next to us but now he sits in the ExerSaucer and plays while we eat.
5:00 – 7:00 p.m. – We have family time. We play, talk, read and start winding down in preparation of Jack’s bedtime routine. He is so fun! He has such a huge personality already.
I cannot get over how much he loves books already. He sits so still and listens closely as we read to him. I picked up two copies of Llama Llama Holiday Drama the other day at Sam’s, one for Jack’s book exchange friend and one him. The Llama Llama books are so cute and funny too!
How do you like our temporary coffee table/ottoman? It’s micro-sized compared to our gigantic couch and doesn’t match. It’s from JH’s bachelor days! I’ve been hunting for two square ottomans to have reupholstered. Something like this but I want to use a light turquoise-ish/blue color fabric to match the accent colors in the floral pillows. Do you have two for sale?
7:00 p.m. – Jack’s bedtime routine begins. We go into his room and prepare for bath time. One of us takes care of the bath and the other Jack. JH normally gives Jack his bath and I clean up the kitchen and living room. This time is also when I clean bottles and get them sterilized.
While JH put Jack to bed on Friday, I also worked on my closet a little more. I’ve been working on cleaning out my closet and drawers for a few days now. I’m almost finished! Thank the Lord! This bag is now full.
8:00 p.m. – Jack is always sound asleep by 8 p.m. JH loves popcorn. Fresh popcorn popped on the stove. It’s his thing. He eats it like it’s going out of style. But I have to admit I like it as well. So he popped up a fresh batch of popcorn and we watched Extreme Home Makeover and 20/20 together!
10:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. – We were both beat from a long week so we called it a night!

You have the cutest baby EVER. He is just loving life with his chubby cheeks
Good ottomans here (two in turquoise…FONTANA is the style-thought the feet/legs are different).

BTW was up DARK and early (haha) and bought the cute falalalala mug you have (from the twitter pic). SO CUTE! LOVE that it has a lid!
I live in Ky and love to go to Chicago to shop. I thought you were from Chicago. I did not know others came to KY to shop. I once saw on a web site(sorry do not remember where) how a lady covered omaha steak coolers with fabric then added feet for the cutest ottaman.
We don’t live in Chicago. We live in the southern part of the state. We’re only 2.5 hours from Nashville, TN. It wasn’t a big shopping trip, we’re about 45 minutes from Paducah. The Dillards there is better than ours & my mother needed something for a wedding this weekend. Thank you for the tip about the ottomans!
What a fun day! There are some fun little ottomans in the new Crate & Barrel catalog. http://www.crateandbarrel.com/furniture/ottomans-cubes/1
Have a great rest of the weekend!

Hi Nina! Love the photos
Wondering if you’re going to do a blog sale with the items cleaned out from your closet?
Jack is so precious! I love llama llama books and isn’t stovetop popcorn so much better?
Sounds like a wonderful day.
I love day in the life posts!! This is all Javi and I do on our blog, pretty much, so his family back in Chile can keep in touch with our goings-on. It’s so fun to read about how other people live too. Jack is SO cute! Love the warpaint photo too.
I’ve been wanting to do this too…though my days seem a little crazier keeping up with 2 little guys. Maybe if I actually wrote it down I would notice it’s not too crazy. I would def drive to KY to get CFA
We love popcorn on the stove too and BB loves eating it also. I know Jack will be a fan one day and JH will love making it with him!
I love these posts! I have a two month old so reading these always gives me a glimpse into what’s to come. Even though we also have a two year old my brain has turned to mush and I’ve completely forgotten what life with a baby is like. Thanks for sharing
looks like you had a GREAT day!!! your boy is just so stinkin cute!!!
Nina,
What kind of cream blush do you use? I’m on the hunt for a new one.
I vote for pictures of Jack with every post! He is getting cuter by the minute!
