It’s 3:31 a.m. and I’m up. Wide awake! Sitting in front of my Mac with bed head (because I did go to sleep for about 4 hours) wearing a pair of pajama pants I purchased from J.Crew circa 2001 and a bath robe. I’m only wearing my bath robe because I couldn’t find my Snuggie and I’m freezing. I’m always cold. It’s quite a sight!
Can you believe our wedding is 10 days away!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?! I feel like it was yesterday that I posted about our engagement!
Now I’m up in the middle of the night Googling “wedding makeup for brunette brides,” emailing vendors, making lists and more lists and praying the day will turn out beautifully for us because we’re only doing this once! As I’ve said to numerous people, I’m so excited for the wedding weekend but I’m most excited about JH and I becoming husband and wife. After all, that is what matters most!
But since I’m still a bride for 10 more days, what do you think of these looks to show my makeup artist? I like Kristin Davis’ look the best. It’s fresh, classic and not too dark. I’m at a loss. I’m not great in the cosmetic department. I was frantically chatting with Erin last night… what lipstick? what foundation? what eye makeup? Ahhh. She’s so calm and helpful and always has just the answer you need to hear!

During my search, I found a great article on brides.com titled Summer Bridal Must-Haves. Extremely helpful and all products are very affordable.
How did you find (as all the sites say) the “enhanced version of you” on your wedding day?
I’m going to try to go back to sleep now. The sun will be up before too long and I have a meeting first thing in the morning.

As a makeup artist based in TX (and a brunette myself!) I do bridal makeup all the time, here’s my recommendations for a wedding in the summer heat:
Make Up For Ever HD Foundation (find it at Sephora)
Mac Skinfinish Naturals Pressed Powder
champagne color or very light smoky eye (Nars has great eyeshadows)
false eyelashes – a lot of people are scared of these, but they look amazing in the pictures
Light pink or natural lip lipstick with a gloss over it
Whatever makeup you choose, I’m sure you will look gorgeous!!! Congratulations
I love the makeup in the picture on the right. I love pinks and roses especially for bridal make-up. I went to several different places to have test runs done for my make-up. I knew I wanted to do it myself on my wedding day, not only to save money but because once shown how to do it I feel that I can do a better job. I have been doing my own make-up for years and I know the trick to my eyelashes, etc. haha. After three different places, I finally found the make-up look I was going for. Sephora is a great place to visit if you are going to do it yourself. You will be beautiful!
Somehow I know that you and the wedding will be stunning! It is only normal to panic, but it’s so obvious through twitter and your blog that your ducks are in a row. You’re going to be gorgeous, and I can’t wait to see pictures of the big day!
Oh Nina! You will be naturally enhanced on your wedding day through sheer joy! That being said, my makeup artist used the previously mentioned HD makeup, and I definitely sported some fake eyelashes. They’re great because you don’t have to worry about mascara running down your face or flaking. Of course, by the end of the night, after an outdoor reception spent shaking my tailfeather, my makeup was pretty much dunzo.

The main thing I remember is that I was so thankful that I had a lot of makeup on. It sounds silly, and I do wear makeup daily, but for my wedding it was done so well (and so much!) that in all the photos I look like the very best version of myself. Beautiful eyes (with fake lashes) and lips were only appropriate because I dressed for the biggest day of my life!
Oh… I did the same thing you’re doing… just a year ago!! I am going to send you the list of make-up I wore. The lipstick was the perfect neutral, like these!

I agree with Glamorous Newlywed above about the false eyelashes. I was TERRIFIED of them, for fear of looking like Tammy Faye Baker for eternity in my wedding pictures. My makeup artist used the ones from MAC and they were great. I didn’t know were there, but they added SO MUCH to the pictures! She also used some sort of MAC lipstick with a base on it that absolutely did not move. And when I kissed my husband, ate or drank, it also did not even fade. I had to use makeup remover to get it to come off, but it was worth it. I took it off after the “big stuff” and just put a really good gloss on for the rest of the night. I know that whatever you choose will be perfect!

Maybe I was just a lazy {cheap} bride, but I did my own make-up the way I always do my make up. I also curled my own hair and pinned it back myself.

Ekk!!! 10 days is what my countdown is too. I’ve been staying up late and making lists as well. I really can’t beleive 7.31.10 is NEXT week!
I know everything will be fine the day of, but I just want to make sure everything gets done and is super organzied!
My make-up artist is going to use MAC on me. Their products are fabulous!

As a makeup artist, I always tell my brides they need to be comfortable the day of their wedding. This is not a day to experiment with a new look. You want to look like yourself just a little more glamorous!
Keep your face looking fresh, I totally agree with Glamorous Wed, MUFE HD Foundation is amazing!
For concealer: Bobbi Brown, MAC, Eve Pearl or Laura Mercier
Blush: NARS Orgasm (universally flattering color) or a soft pink (to make you look like a blushing bride)
Eyes: soft browns, light pinks, taupe colors, a little frost will not hurt, but NO GLITTER!
lips: soft pink or a neutral color on you
Ask your makeup artist if she is going to provide you a lipstick so you will be able to reapply the rest of the day. If not, ask her for the name so you can purchase it.
I know you will look stunning on your wedding day.
I WISH i had done fake eyelashes. So dramatic and really stand out in photos. I love the rosey colors in the picture on the right. But Kristin Davis just reminds me of you so I’m drawn to that, too.
You’re going to look beautiful. Pick colors that enhance your natural colors and stand out from the gorgeous white gown.
Beautiful Aunnie!!!

I love both of these looks. Not over done, but still “enhanced”.

I have brown hair and brown eyes and probably struggled with the same things you are worried about on your wedding day. I also spent time with every make up counter in Nordstrom doing MONTHS of research….just my two cents, but Bobbi Brown worked out the best for me. I practiced plenty before the big day and it all worked out. You will look great!
