Watch Out, I Bought A New Glue Gun!

I should start this post with a disclaimer: I am not a DIY’er, I don’t consider myself one, and do not plan to become one but from time to time I find a project I know I can do myself and save a few bucks doing so!

I purchased this Surebonder glue gun at JoAnn Fabrics. I paid $12.99 or $14.99 for it. I cannot remember. I did not want one of the little tiny ones you see in the checkout lanes (even though they work just as well) and I liked the on/off switch feature, making this glue gun the newest addition to our laundry room cabinet otherwise known as the “tool closet.”

While at JoAnn’s I picked up the trim supplies for my lamp project. I love this golden yellow pompom trim.

Here’s the lamp I found online at WalMart.com for $10 and the shade for $11. I had both shipped to my local store to take advantage of the site-to-store free shipping.

I added the yellow trim in less than five minutes. Glue guns are incredible tools! If you do not own one, go buy one today! I’m pretty sure this is not the first time I’ve given that advice.

But I quickly decided the one row of yellow trim was not enough. The lamp did not look complete yet.

I made a second stop at JoAnn’s for a much smaller version of the pom trim of the top of the lamp. In the picture below it doesn’t look even but I think it’s the angle I took the picture. It looks even to me but maybe it is not… I’m not a professional but I’m extremely pleased with the way the lamp turned out and I have less than $25 in the lamp (not included the glue gun the purchase).

As you can see the room is coming together sloooooowly but surely. I hope to show you the whole thing before Jack’s 16th birthday! I’m only kidding. We’re working on the artwork now and that will complete the room with the exception of a chair that I would like to add to the room eventually.
