There are plenty of uses for a mini/small/little colander such as single servings of pasta or small amounts of fruits or seafoods but I cannot remember the last time I prepared a small amount of anything in my kitchen; therefore leaving this poor little colander unused for what very well might be forever!
We use Dr. Brown’s bottles and about a month or so ago I started washing the bottles in the dishwasher because ours has a high-heat plus sterilizer feature on it. But I was having a hard time finding a way to get all the small parts in the dishwasher without falling through the racks. I did not want to put them in the utensil baskets and the Dr. Brown’s dishwasher baskets only hold the parts to three bottles each and I think the slots for the parts are annoying. My opinion.
All of this led me to rummaging through my cabinets for a solution.
I found this mini colander. It’s probably more like a small colander in size but it’s mini compared to the other four in my cabinet. I only say this because I’ve seen smaller but you get the point, right?
This little gem works like a dream! I place it right on the top rack of my dishwasher, fill it up and it allows the dishwasher to work it’s magic! It keeps all the parts on the top shelf and it allows for drainage too. The parts come out squeaky clean!
If you’re in the bottle cleaning business, try a colander for easy cleaning!

That is pretty clever! Why did I never think of that back in my bottle washing days? I always used those baskets which took up a ton of room and you’re right – didn’t hold many parts for the amount of space they used.
Lingerie bags for the washer work great too!
Brill idea!!
This is such a great idea and I will definitely be trying it! Washing bottle is such a pain because of space and all the parts but this looks like it will definitely help solve that problem!
