Here’s the thing… I’m not an editor at Vogue nor do I claim to be a major fashion trendsetter, but I do stand strong on my belief that you should create YOUR style and OWN it! It’s very simple. If your clothes are up-to-date, well-fitting and I can’t see your underwear through your pants…. you’re probably in the clear of the Style Police!
{Some} Rules are made to be broken: Wearing white jeans before Easter or after Labor Day is one of them. What would Jackie do? She would wear white jeans… even with boots and a turtleneck!
Classic. Timeless. And Downright Fabulous!
And, for those of you that think patent is only for Summer. You are missing out. Set your sights on these beauts & you’ll jump on the train and rock the patent all. year. long.
So, the moral of the story? Get over the rules that were set by our grandmother’s mothers and embrace the white & shiny… but leave the white patent for the baby girls!

I like white jeans all year round. Linen and seersucker on the other hand . . .
Also, patent rules seem really bizarre to me- isn’t leather all season wear?

Patent for summer only makes no sense….it makes your feet sweat, if anything, it would be more perfect for winter than for summer
And I just bought a pair of white jeans that are divine…will wear them tomorrow, with some brown riding boot!

I wish Nina, how do you handle the stares from the prim and proper.
My biggest challenge is The Yacht Club ladies, I literally can see them once over me several times when I attempt anything that could be considered pioneering. Oh if it’s says Chanel on the tag, I could wear it anytime, but only because they are huge label whores. If Jackie O wore it, great pioneering, if The Bumpkin wears it…tacky.

I so agree! I have a pair of white jeans that I love and they go with everything, I would hate to only wear them during the summer. My mother still cringes, though, when I wear them before Memorial Day

my mom was in france last november and she said all the women were wearing white jeans, in the fall and it was divine. she came back from the trip with two pair, skinny and trouser and hasn’t looked back since. i cannot wait to break out my pair!

I definitely do not think that patent is for summer only. Honestly, I had not even heard that! ha! But white jeans before Easter or after Labor Day is one rule I just cannot let go but I certainly do not begrudge those who do. Even if I am the only girl left following it. Then I guess we could consider it me just being me. ;~)
