the gift of silhouette sweetness

by Nina on November 3, 2008

I found Le Papier Studio on Etsy over the weekend and wrote the owner immediately to ask if I could feature her products on my blog as a Gift Recommendation. She wrote back and kindly accepted. I’m pleased to introduce to you Le Papier Studio designs…. Click here to visit her Etsy Store.

Here is an 8 x 10 Print (with a very budget friendly $-tag too!). You can pick from a huge selection of silhouettes. Each silhouette is more adorable than the last. You will find yourself scrambling through your friends & family list to find “who else will get one of these for Christmas?” Or, “Didn’t my mother tell me my 5th Cousin is having a baby?” Bingo. One more!

Note cards & Invitations too!

Here is another print… This little girl with her pink bow & sassy-ness stole my heart! How cute if you had one for each season!

You know these are a new take on an old idea. Silhouettes dates back to the early 1700′s. Artists called “silhouettists” would attend parties for the royal class and create these silhouettes for amusement. Just a little history lesson. Really, if you go into your old auntie’s attic you will probably find at least one silhouette. I know my Aunt Georgia had silhouettes handing on her walls for years. It really is such a cute idea…love the new twist.

I remember my grandma having pics too. I also remember that Mrs. Poteete did a silhouette of each of us in second grade. My mom still has them. It is interesting to see how unique we are and to have people who didn’t know us then guess who is who. My ponytail gives mine away!
