A little LINK LOVE before I go… check out Backroads and Barstools. Such a cute blog. Another outstanding design from the one and only Penny Lane Designs.
Also, if you are interested in reading along with our first successful book pick, we are going to start discussing The Help on Monday, August 17th right here. This is VERY casual, you can join at your convenience. No pressure!

I LOVE roadtrips, so my essentials are definitely good snacks and music and GREAT company!
The beauty of road trips: You don’t need much ….
Some must haves:
a cooler, filled with ice, coolies and other yummies (fruit, cheese, etc.)
an extra pair of sunglasses
soulful tunes (i.e., Willie Nelson, Norah Jones, Journey, etc.)
a tube of hot lipstick
a discerning eye for fun flea markets, local watering holes, and killer sunsets
a roll of TP
bottle opener/wine corkscrew
camera (and battery charger … that goes for the cellphone too)
a roadie attitude!
Have an awesome, unforgettable time!
(thanks for the shout-out,
)

My answer depends on what type of “road trip” you’re talking about…You know I spend hours upon hours a day on the road. In fact, I’ve driven over 100K miles in under two years so I’ve got some experience on the road. I’ve got it down to a science. I always bring snacks in the car with me because if I have stuff to munch on, I’m less likely to stop for unhealthy options on the road. I also bring flip flops because driving ruins your heels (if you’re traveling for work). If I’ve got my stuff packed int he trunk, I keep a small make up bag up front with me so I can touch up my make up before I arrive. My center console is a mini store- tampons, tylenol, wet wipes and napkins, chargers, iPod…
If I’m going straight to my location and I need to look nice when I get there, I wear a different outfit to drive in and then I’ll change in the car…the seatbelt wrinkles your shirt so I’d rather drink in a cami and put my top on when I arrive. Sometimes, I’ll wait until I arrive to put my make up on in the car before I hop out…that way it looks fresh! This is where those wet wipes come in handy too…
I’m old school…I like paper maps. I’ve got a Rand McNally with every state in my backseat. You can get anywhere if you can find the main roads and in some cases, you’ll be in an area that the GPS doesn’t work so it’s good to have a back up.
I have a pump bottle of hand sanitizer in my door right next to my umbrella- I use it after pumping gas.
If im going on a road trip, A-MUST-HAVE for me… I must have my dogs with me!!! xo.
