H&M Top Shopping Success

by Nina on March 20, 2012

H&M is not on my regularly-shopped list only because I get overwhelmed by the selection and to be completely honest the sizing wigs me out. But while at the St. Patrick’s Day parade, I met a girl that had on the cutest top with ankle jeans. It was the navy and white striped shirt below. The one with the adorable gold zipper down the back. Yes, that one! She was as sweet as could be and quickly instructed me to stop by H&M to pick one up for myself. What a doll!

During my quick trip to H&M, I also found the pink top below which I’m wearing today. It’s light, bright, and perfect for a very warm first day of Spring!

Children’s Clothing for Spring Shopping Haul

by Nina on March 19, 2012

Clothing from miniBoden, Cutest Kid on the Block and Zutano. I’ve also purchased plain t-shirts from Wal-Mart for Jack to wear with a few pairs of sandbox pants my grandma is making for him. The Garanimals two packs are really nice for play clothes. The quality is great and they wash really well. The ones without pockets look cute with their name embroidered on the front for a little added fun!

Clarification on the FuntastiaToo outfits: I purchased two outfits + shipping for under $55. When I received the invoice with the shipment the outfits were originally approximately $60/EACH. In the video I say, “deep discount” and my explanation sounds like I got $5 off! Not the case.

Another great place to purchase kid’s clothing is Kelly’s Kids! I’m hosting a party online for a friend and it’s live right now! Visit http://www.kellyskids.com/KristinStuart and enter Party # 5411 at checkout!

Filling Easter Baskets for Babies

by Nina on March 16, 2012

When I think of filling Easter baskets, I think of Cadbury bunnies, Reese’s eggs, those tiny crackled eggs that don’t taste very good, jelly beans of many flavors, and plastic colored eggs filled with random goodies. None of which are very baby-friendly!

Lucky for you, I gathered a bunch of items that would be great in baskets for our little tiny tots. We either own or use a variation of most of these items but a few are items the Easter Bunny is bringing to Jack this year!

We love Pottery Barn towels, Tommee Tippee cups, organic foods and snacks, blabla kids, Duck & Goose books, and Karen Katz too! 50 Silly Songs is one of our favorite CDs to listen to at home. Jewel’s Merry Go Round CD was part of our Blissdom swag and it’s just as precious as can be. We also love Jewel’s Lullaby CD. All of which would make fun Easter gifts for babies.

As you know Jack loves Eebee from Eebee’s Adventures so the Easter Bunny is bringing him a couple of his first Eebee DVDs that he landed on Zulily last month. He’s also getting new pajamas, a new pair of polarized wayfarers for his days on the lake with Frosty, and a personalized stuffed bunny as his keepsake item from his first Easter.

Babies will not know the difference if you give them a basket full of stuff or nothing at all but in the spirit of the holiday it’s fun to fill their baskets and watch the excitement on their sweet faces! But no need to buy things they won’t use or eat so fill their baskets will things you’ll already be purchasing… Food, snacks, books, and seasonal items. A keepsake is a nice additional too.

There are 22 days until Easter!

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by Wearing Green

by Nina on March 13, 2012

Day to Night to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day
Day to Night to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

Have you ever wondered why we wear green on St. Patrick’s Day or why others pinch you if you do not?

St. Patrick’s Day was originally a Roman Catholic feast day for Ireland’s patron saint, celebrated only in Ireland since before the 1600s. But it evolved into a secular holiday in the 1700s, when Irish immigrants in the US held some of the first St. Patrick’s Day parades. Today, St. Patrick’s Day is a transcontinental celebration of Irish culture, replete with festive food and traditions.

Why green? Green is one of the colors in Ireland’s tri-color flag, and it has been used in the flags of several Irish revolutionary groups throughout history. Ireland is the “Emerald Isle,” so named for its lush green landscape. Green is also the color of spring, the shamrock, and the Chicago River, which the Midwestern city has dyed green on St. Patrick’s Day for the past 40-some years.

Pinch me, I’m Irish? If you forget to wear green on St. Patty’s Day, don’t be surprised if you get pinched. No surprise, it’s an entirely American tradition that probably started in the early 1700s. St. Patrick’s revelers thought wearing green made one invisible to leprechauns, fairy creatures who would pinch anyone they could see (anyone not wearing green). People began pinching those who didn’t wear green as a reminder that leprechauns would sneak up and pinch green-abstainers.

St. Patrick’s Day is only a few days away.

Do you have big plans this weekend?

Will you feast on corned beef and cabbage?

What is your go-to green outfit?

Resource for St. Patrick’s Day history information came from The Christian Monitor.

“Break It, We’ll Replace It”

by Nina on March 9, 2012

Even though AT&T is not my service provider, I went to our local AT&T store about a month ago to purchase the coveted Mophie case. I’ve been extremely pleased with my purchase and have told numerous people they too should purchase a Mophie! That is until today. I needed to hook my iPhone up to my computer to conduct a routine software update but I couldn’t get the case off. I asked JH to help which when he tried to remove the case the top broke in two pieces. He, of course, was very sorry but I quickly said, “it’s okay. The nice AT&T guy said it has this awesome one-year warranty that covers ANYTHING that happens to it. All I have to do is go in and they’ll give me a new one.”

Pause a couple of hours for me to get myself and Jack dressed. Diaper bag packed. Computer work finished. And drive 10 miles to the AT&T store.

This is where Miss Smarty Pants gets burned. Why why why do I always believe the sales person’s warranty BS!?

“I’m sorry ma’am, the warranty does not cover broken cases.”

Really?

Here’s the deal, I would have purchased the case warranty or no warranty. If I would have broken the case without a warranty, I would have gone back to the store and purchased a replacement today without a complaint. I probably would have tried to convince JH he needed to buy me the replacement but that’s not the point.

This sales person went out of his way to give me some hunk of bologna story about the Mophie warranty so I feel as though I was lied to. And I don’t like liars.

The worst part is I miss my Mophie.
