The Rise is High

by Nina on January 26, 2012

all images via zappos

I know what you are thinking, high rise jeans = grandma but I guarantee you your grandma is not wearing these 7 for All Mankind High Rise Bootcut! I ordered these from Zappos earlier this week. They arrived two days ago and I immediately fell in love. They are unbelievably slimming, just the right amount of stretch and you don’t have to worry about your Hanky Pankys sticking out because they are not the low-rise jeans your 16-year-old babysitter is wearing! Now what shoes to wear? I’m a huge fan of cognac colored shoes (shown in the pictures above) but high heels don’t exactly fit in my every day wardrobe anymore.

Being Yourself is the Best Way to Be

by Nina on January 25, 2012

Jack’s buddies, Hudson and Hayes sent this I Love Monkey book and plush monkey set to him for Christmas and as you can see he loves it! Monkey’s arms are the perfect size for Jack to wrap his little hands around and Monkey isn’t too heavy so he can drag him around with him as he rolls all around the living room. Monkey’s story is fantastic too! It’s all being yourself and how special you are because you’re you! You don’t have to be anyone other than yourself! Many thanks again to Hudson, Hayes and his sweet parents too!

I Love Monkey book and monkey set is a wonderful gift for any child at pretty much any age! I love gifting things that deliver a wonderful message as well as something fun for the kids.

Favorite Finds in my Reader

by Nina on January 23, 2012

A Southern Accent has been in my Reader since day one. She is quite a gal to say the least. And she made my day today when I opened up my Reader to find this style board all around the fabulous tangerine tango pantone color! Visit her site to get all the details and also visit her Etsy store to order your very own “Kiss My Grits” sign originally created by Miss Wendy! Image below credit to Wendy of A Southern Accent.

Urban Grace Interiors, as always has posted something that catches my eye and gets me dreaming about living at the beach, designing interiors of homes or like today of wearing my hair parted in the middle. Who knew? I love my side swoop. But this picture by Kelly Stewart Erika posted on her blog made me dream of parting my hair right down the middle of my head… and owning that dress this beautiful mom is wearing! Image below via (and linked to) Urban Grace Interiors by Kelly Stewart).

I love reading Megan’s honest words on motherhood that shares on Tales of the Trees.

Thanks to Vera’s Fashion Hauls like this one here on her finds from Banana Republic recently, I want to drive two hours to the closest Banana Republic. She landed some really cute things and they are all things I would wear! I love fashion and fashion trends but the beautiful trendy items cut low and skinny don’t really fit into my reality.

I’m sure it’s no surprise to you that I’ve found something else on Little Green Notebook that I like. This cabinet is very cool. Yes, I said “cool!” It’s old. I think the mirrors on the doors is funky and also functional. I love the green accents. And I like that it’s a piece that would look in different types of homes. I can see it my house in a guest room or nursery. I can also see it my drummer brother’s house. Image below via Little Green Notebook.

Last but not least, Jenn from Hostess with the Mostess has impressed me (as she always does)! I literally gasped when this Stork Express Airlines shower popped up in my Reader. Every single detail is DARLING! Image via hostess blog.

There are many days I find my Reader overwhelming and not fun to look at but other days I enjoy it so very much that I just have to share what I found! I say this often but it’s true… the blogging community is a powerful place full of talented people and I’m so glad to be a part of it. Being surrounded by strong, determined, smart and creative people day in and day out is something people dream of. We, as bloggers, live that dream. How great is that?

MomStyle Find: Hooded Tie-Front Wrap

by Nina on January 21, 2012

As you can see this wrap is for more than just moms. Anyone and everyone could wear it. It’s so versatile, comfortable and easy to wear. It’s soft too. It runs pretty true to size but it’s a wrap so even a size small could wear a medium or large if needed. I ordered a size medium and like the fit very much. Erin, Nina and Megan are also sporting this wrap around their towns!

Akira Chicago has this wrap in 10 fun colors! Sign up for their newsletter and receive 15% off.

Twitter Game: What Was Jack Thinking?

by Nina on January 20, 2012

“The Giraffe Did it! ” :o

“what? Do have something on my shirt?” Yes- accidents happen…. ;-)

“i claim this giraffe in the name of jack!”

“MOM! It was ALL the giraffe’s fault!! Blame Sophie!!”

“Raise your hand if you’re totally a lady’s man!”

EEWW.. Sick mom, this giraffe just threw up on my shirt!

“King of the Castle, King of the Castle…” (Borat voice) :)

I puked on myself. Jack don’t care. Jack doesn’t give a shit” (honey badger voice over)

“You mean this thing isn’t real!?”

all right, who barfed?

“garçon, there’s drool on my giraffe!”

“Mom!! Sophie is leaking something!!” ;)

“What, this stain? Old news—let’s play with Sophie!!”

“Mom, I think the giraffe is defective!”

“will the real spitter please stand up?”

“Alright lady, this is a stick up. Give me more cereal or the giraffe gets it!”

“Going once, going twice, going to the lovely lady with the camera in her hands…”

Sophie made me do it!!!

“wave your giraffe in the air, wave it like you just don’t care!”

“Alright, give me the food, or else Sophie gets hurt.”

“Ya, spit happens and that’s how I roll.”

And the winner is…

“Alright lady, this is a stick up. Give me more cereal or the giraffe gets it!” by Waspy Redhead!

Jack thinks you all are pretty darn clever! Look at that face! I have a feeling I’m going to have my hands full in about 10 years, what do you think?

Jack’s Jack Hat from Landy Knits

by Nina on January 17, 2012

I show off Jack’s precious little hat quite often on Twitter and have received numerous questions about where to buy one so I thought a post was the best way to reach everyone.

We love this hat! It fits so well and covers Jack’s ears perfectly to protect them from the cold air. You can measure your child’s head and send the exact measurements to her for your hat.

Jack’s Jack hat is from Landy Knits on Etsy! She’s such a sweet lady to work with and I hope you will all order one for your little kiddos!

Happy Tuesday to all! Thank you as always for reading and supporting this little place I call my blog home!
