Not Just an Ordinary Pop

by Nina on July 20, 2009

I’ve talked about Dessert Pops before but as most of you know I would pick dinner over dessert any day! And if you know that about me, then you also know I love appetizers & party food too. I’m always up for hosting a party & let’s face it the food makes or breaks a party!

I found these Cherry Tomato Lollipops in Redbook magazine a couple of months ago. How stinkin’ cute are these? Tomato, avocado & cheese. YUM!

LUCKYME introduced me to this salad-on-a stick this morning. I squealed with excitement when I saw it. What party guest would not love these?? I will put money down that even non-salad-eaters would still be impressed by the presentation!

Do you have any other food-on-a-stick recipes to share with us? My mind is racing… I’m seeing it in my head… the guests at the next shower I host will be feasting on everything from tomatoes to cheesecakes all on sticks, of course!!

Those are adorable! The only food-on-a-stick idea that pops into my mind is marshmallows a la smores – hardly original, but yummy nonetheless!

That looks SO good! I wish I would have seen this earlier, and we could have used it for the wedding! Too fun.

Don’t forget the ever-popular fruit kabobs. Serve them with a fruit dip and you’ve got dessert. I have a recipe for a very easy fruit dip. Mix two 3 oz.pkgs. of French vanilla dry pudding mix with 1 1/2 cups of cold pineapple juice. Fold in a 16-oz. carton of Cool Whip (low-fat, of course). Chill until ready to serve. Oh yea, speaking of things on a stick..how about Muffulettas. Always a big hit. Chunks of ham, cheese, roasted red peppers, salami and olives marinated and served on skewers. They make a beautiful presentation when you fill a large clear bowl with mixed pickled veggies and arrange the Muffulettas like a flower arrangement. I’m like Nina…can think of several other ideas. There you go Nina..a book idea. “Food on a Stick” and all the stories to go with it. Better yet, maybe if you were going to write stories to go with the food “Stick It” might be a better title. HaHa. (Can I say that on your blog?)
