The weekend before the 4th, I made my way up North for a short-must-needed visit to the city. Friday night I enjoyed dinner with Jenna & Andrea at one of Jenna’s favs, Adobo Grill. Andrea and I could have passed on the food but the company was second to none and the drinks were delicious!
Saturday morning, I was able to make it to Einstein’s for a coffee and Pinky’s for a manicure before meeting Lauren for coffee on Rush. But to my surprise as I’m getting my mani Lauren walks in to Pinky’s. I know! We enjoyed each others company while relaxing and then grabbed coffee on Southport which allowed us to spend more time together than we had originally expected. Everything happens for a reason!
My Saturday continued to get better. Andrea and I decided to spend the day on Michigan Ave. We had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory and then shopped our little hearts out. We waiting for a seat outside and it was definitely worth the wait. It was a beautiful day! And, if you find yourself at a Cheesecake Factory… have the Cobb Salad… it’s to die for!
Saturday night, I had dinner at the most wonderful little Italian restaurant. It is in the middle of a neighborhood on Wrightwood… I think, I’m not sure. I can’t find the card. I can’t even remember the name of the place. But I had an incredible pasta dish and I shared it with fantastic company! It was one of those nights in the city that you’ll never forget.
Sunday I had brunch with Bob and Sherri at Nookie’s in Old Town. We enjoyed eggs, coffee and great conversation. Everyone was in good spirits and it was so great to see them and enjoy some time together. We used to spend a lot of time together when I lived in the city. I miss that very much.
After brunch, I headed out to the suburbs to Aunt Gina & Uncle Todd’s for a family bbq. It was very nice as usual and it was great to see everyone. Uncle Jack was in town from Florida and we really had a nice time just hanging out. Nico and Marco let me spend the night in the basement and then they took out for breakfast on Monday morning to Page’s in Hinsdale (where you can have milk shakes & pancakes)We stopped by the farmer’s market for a few goodies as well.
