Men Can’t Read Our Minds…

by Nina on July 16, 2009

I attended a neighboring town’s Chamber Lunch today and Jane Sanders was the speaker. Jane is the author of GenderSmart: Solving The Communication Puzzle Between Men and Women. She was one of the most entertaining speakers I’ve ever heard at a lunch of this kind. She had everyone’s full attention and I think each person learned at least one new thing about communicating with not only the opposite sex but both genders.

My lesson learned… Men cannot read our minds. Tell men what you are thinking! If you don’t tell them, you can’t get mad if they don’t know. Jane’s example, you can’t get mad at your husband for not buying you what you wanted for your birthday if you didn’t inform him of what it was you wanted. Her solution, grab the catalog, circle the items you like and hand it to your husband. I would put it in his brief case or in bathroom but that’s me!!

Check out her website. She has a blog too!

This is so true, it took me many years to realize that men are not mind readers and don’t even do well with hints. We really need to tell them what we want. I’ll have to check her blog out!

Sigh…sometimes even THAT doesn’t work! For my bday last month I specifically told Florida what I wanted and showed him where online to purchase it. Then I specifically said I did NOT want a Dallas Cowboys jersey…guess what I got? Yup…the jersey. Sigh…at least I’ll always have something to wear on Sundays…
