Influencing Children…

Just so you know… I’m frantically typing with a massive smile on my face as if I’ve accomplished some sort of philanthropic mission!

So here’s the quick 2 second story behind the story I’m getting ready to tell you…. I work in an advertising and marketing firm so I’m able to dress on the creative side when it comes to styling. I wear my Hunter wellies A LOT! Occasionally, even when it’s not raining. The guys (including our chief programmer – who has a daughter that is 4) in my office get the biggest kick out of my boots  – especially when I pair them with what they like to call a “cape”; which is really a wrap of some sort. It’s doesn’t bother me much since I tell them I guess that means I have superpowers too!

Jump to Tuesday of this week. It was actually raining that day so of course I was sporting my original green Hunter wellies, skinny jeans, and I honestly can’t remember what top I wore. Whatever, it doesn’t matter. I’m at the grocery store after work and run into our chief programmer (who we’ll call, Sam) and his 4-year-old daughter (who we’ll call, Lilly) in the parking lot.

The conversation went a little something like this….

Sam: Hey, Nina!

Me: Oh! Hey, Sam. HI Lilly!!! How are you??

Sam: Lilly, can you say Hi to Nina?

Lilly: Hi.

Me: You guys have a great night!! Bye, Lilly!

Lilly: Bye.

I leave. Sam tells me the next day that the conversation continued….

Lilly:  Who was that girl?

Sam: Nina, she works at the same place I do. You’ve met her before, remember?

Lilly: Did you see that girl’s boots?

Sam: What girl?

Lilly: That girl from your work.

Sam: The green ones?

Lilly: Yea.

Sam: What about them?

Lilly: I want a pair! You need to get me a pair of those boots!!

This is where I almost stopped breathing because I was laughing so hard.
