I Hide my Big Tush Well…

by Nina on September 7, 2011

But I need to drop some pounds. STAT. I think I have about 15-20 pounds to pre-pregnancy weight but I need to lose the 10 pounds I didn’t lose before getting pregnant. I’m guessing all of this because we do not have a scale in our home. I will never own a scale. I’m basing these pounds strictly by how my clothes fit.

Where is all of this coming from?

I’m working on my post for Kelly’s Korner SUYL Favorite Blogs post and I’m scanning through my Reader only to find myself feeling extreme jealousy over all of the long lean legs, awesome arms and fabulous clothes. I want to want to buy new clothes, not dread it and I want to look good in my new clothes.

I used to have great arms without working out at all. Those days are o.v.e.r. I’ve always been short and will always be short. I’m 5′ 2″ on a good day but that’s probably pushing the charts! I wish I could order a pair of Reese Witherspoon’s legs and have them FedEx’d to my doorstep. Since that’s far-fetched, maybe it’s time for me to get a BOB Stroller.

I rarely write about my feelings but I need to get back into the swing of writing what’s on my mind and not thinking so hard about what to post so this is what’s on my mind today.

I want skinner legs, muscular arms, a smaller tush and perkier boobs.

Who’s with me?

I can totally relate! I was pregnant in each year from 06-10, 3 babies ages 4 and under now. I’m about 10 pounds from pre-pregnancy and 20 from where I’d love to be. I am not *fat,* but I’m also completely out of shape and my body has totally shifted from “cute new wife” to “chubby mommy.” I choose my clothing wisely and do not wear things that accentuate the pudge…hello, tunics! I share your desire to look great and feel great as a mommy!

My baby is 19 months and I still haven’t done anything about my “wants” either. Seriously lacking motivation. Give your body some time to recuperate! But I know what you mean:)

I’m pregnant (8 weeks away from DD) and I’m terrified about my post baby body. Things aren’t looking too pretty right now and I cannot believe I’ve barely worked out this entire 8 months. I’m almost ashamed to admit it. I want ALL of those things you mentioned.

Totally know the feeling. And I’m sure you are gonna get it off quick! Your mom always looks so tiny – so that’s a great indication that you can have kids and still be skinny! Give it time, it will happen. One thing you have to remember as a new mom is to ALWAYS take time for yourself – you’ll be so happy you did – and so will everyone else! You know what they say “When mama’s happy, everybody’s happy!”

The arms will come as your baby boy grows – my arms have never looked better! He’s like a personal weight set that goes up in lbs. as you get stronger. Hang in there! And the BOB is my #1 recommendation for new moms. For me, it’s the only way to workout anytime and have my little guy with me. I started with walking and gradually started running. He loves it too! You look incredible if you ask me!

I totally feel you hun!!! I barely lost all of my weight before Trey’s first birthday. BUT I will say – I have awesome arms now thanks to him! Pool + 22lb baby up and down and up and down was my regular work out all summer. And it came with lots and lots of baby giggles!! :)

You’ll get there – and I know it freaking sucks – because it does – with time you will be back to your clothes and feeling good about yourself again!!! :)

My friends always remind me that my body went through 9 months of changes while pregnant. It will take atleast 9 months to change it back!!!

Nina-I TOTALLY get where you’re coming from. I am 12 weeks out from my due date with our first but already know that there will be some work to do post baby. I am trying to be super positive about it but looking at all of the great fall/winter clothing is not helping things-I long to wear my pre-baby clothes and will really celebrate when I get into the things I wore pre-wedding just a mere 12 months ago. Thank you for speaking so truthfully for all of moms to be and new moms who struggle with how we look vs how the world thinks we should look!

Nina.
It is like you read my mind…. I literally walked in the door this evening and said to my husband “Argh, I still need to lose more weight!” I had my baby in April and gosh, I’ve been working out like a mad woman but the pounds don’t seem to fall off as easily as they used to. I’m barely 5’3 and I feel like on short people you can see weight more easily; therefore it’s always on my mind ” need to lose weight, need to lose weight”…. ARGH….

Thank you for being so honest, it is nice to know that other new Moms struggle with this too!

Ugh. I’m with you. It’s so hard not to actually hate my body every day. That c section belly is UGLY. haha. My big ole ankles and jiggly arms. I could go on and on. But i fully expect it to take 5 more months for me to feel close to normal. :( sometimes it’s better to complain about it than do something about it!

I’m the same height and I know what you’re talking about. Any extra pounds will look like a hundred on a person with a petite frame. Time for me to cut out quesadillas and pb&j’s because I need to lose tons of weight too. :-/

I hear ya. I so don’t have an adorable newborn to blame for my recent weight gain, but I’ll gladly get on the fit train with you. I need to drop about 30 lbs so I can catch me a man, marry him and then get him to get me pregnant so I can then need to lose that babyweight. Ya know what I’m saying?

Girl… I’m RIGHT THERE with you! I actually thought I looked pretty good about 7 months after Fin was born. Then, I stopped breastfeeding. Lordy, lordy… it was not pretty. I need to get my booty in gear.

I’m so with ya!!! I feel like it’s a constant struggle! I’m so jealous of the women with flat stomachs…even after they eat! I wish that was me!
