Let me just say Ian and I are honored to do a guest post (or 2 or 3…hint: more to come from us) on such a successful blog. I figure we should start with how we met Nina…
ANDREA: I had been a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority at Southern Illinois University for 2 years. In my junior year, I was very involved heading our recruitment as VP of Membership. I was looking to find the best girls SIU had to offer to add to my sorority. Nice, pretty, smart and fun girls who would contribute and serve Sigma Kappa and become life-long friends. Nina walked through the door… sweater tied around her shoulders (no joke) and dressed up to the nines. Her personality was upbeat and outgoing and just as big as her curly hair.
Side note: (since this is a blog that promotes fashion and beauty products) the best hair straightener/ flat iron is a CHI. My friends and I all had curly hair at some pt until we decided to use straighteners. The CHI is a little pricey but worth it, if you are going to use it weekly. The CHI can be found at many stores, including Ulta 3 and retails a little over $100.

Back to the 1st meeting of curly haired Nina: When I found out Nina’s Italian last name, I was sold (being 100 % Italian myself). Not only was Nina accepted into the sorority, she became my pledge kid, and of course real life bff.
IAN: Nina, Nina, Nina. There really can only be one Nina in this world, for she is quite the rare (both special and unique) breed. I had heard a lot about Nina from Ann when we first started dating. I believe she was the last of Ann’s best friends from college that I had yet to meet, and what better meeting place than the Seven Gables! Ann had used descriptors such as “fun”, “upbeat”, and “can get a little boisterous when she’s excited”. After first meeting Nina, I would also use descriptors such as “thoughtful”, “amazing host”, and “can get a little boisterous when she’s excited”. I do think that Nina belongs on a television show called “Hostest with the Mostest” starring Nina and the Seven Gables entourage. Most women wish they could dedicate their life to shopping, cooking, and hosting. Nina dedicates her life to helping others shop, cook, and host. It is quite the interesting corollary of her personality mixed with an obsession with planning and home-bettering (made that word up). Anyway, Nina is a great friend to Ann, and it was a pleasure to meet the lady you all read about.
(SIDE NOTE OF MY OWN: Since this is a blog about fashion, this is my one shot to throw my own two cents on the blog. We shall call it, the HAAPWYSHITS two cents. Straight from a recent HAAP exclusive: “Adidas’ ZX model has been so successful that it would be hard for them to go wrong with them. These simple color ways are sure to sell like the others. Simple suede and mesh are the focal point of these simple kicks, and the ZX600’s don’t disappoint with rockable colors. Look for these at select Adidas accounts in January 2009.” – http://www.haapwyshits.com/)

Hi Nina and Andrea! I am also a Sigma Kappa!! How fun!
Enjoyed your post! I bought my AS a haapwyshits shirt for Christmas! What an awesome stocking stuffer!! Have never met Nina in person, but I can tell that she is awesome!!! And so talented! So, I know you two are awesome, too!!!
Nice story…great job guys!
I LOVE the Chi too! You can also get it on eBay for cheap I’m sure… that’s where my mom got hers. It’s great for ALL hair (in my opinion). I don’t have really curly hair… just wavy and I love it!
What a great story Andrea. Im sure NINA is so proud. ITs so great how close you two are. Thank you for posting and we look forward to Nina getting back on the internet. Thanks again.
I love that you are having guest bloggers!.. and I fell for Nina too when I saw that Italian last name..
Love, her other Italian Admirer
(who also straightens her very jersey-italian-bon jovi- hair with a chi)

loved the re-cap on the intro to nina i was there as well, nina in 1999 was the ipotomy of a sorority chick, sweater was really tied round the shoulders – prime & proper! we should just take over nina's blog, people seem to like us.
Such a great story!! Love the green and black shoes!!
Check out my blog, I gave you an award.
I love the guest bloggers! And I love that you snuck in an old school pic of Nina! I have the opposite problem of the curly hair – I have the straightest hair possible. No amount of product, curling irons, etc will have any effect on my hair after 15 minutes!
It’s fun getting to know Nina through her BFF’s eyes.
