Daybeds or double chair pullouts allow home offices to be versatile living spaces. You, as the owner, put them to good use daily for extra seating and your house-guests can benefit from them as well with a comfy place to lay their heads!
This beautiful space gives you a place to work, spread out and meet with clients or committees. There is potentially enough space for 7 or more people to sit in this area. Most at-work offices do not allow for that many people to sit comfortably… they don’t offer a luxe daybeds either, thank God!
I plan to do something similar to this wall above our couch – if we ever get it, we’ve been waiting for fabric samples for over a month now – with canvas prints of our wedding photos. I love the dimension the wall sconces give the arrangement… a little more flair than just hanging three prints on the wall.
I inherited two Ellen Allen chairs that look almost identical to the one in the picture below. The wood needs to be refinished and both also need reupholstered. With my favor toward mixing woods, I’m going to use this as a blueprint for the restoration of two chairs that have been with me for many years and hold a ton of memories. If the Damen Girls are reading… Oh how I miss the Phone Booth!
I like to stick to the Rule of Versatility – if I use a neutral yet rich color palette, I will be able to move these chairs from room to room for many years to come.
I just adore this picture. The semi-rustic wood art on the wall. Numerous wood pieces throughout – light to dark. Two couches face to face (I will have this one day – for now we’re getting a sectional, because I love my husband so much!). Tons of seating. And last but not least the giant yellow tufted ottoman in the center of the room. It’s bold, yet simple and casters make me giddy.
That’s all for today on the home front. I’m still uploading photos from Jenna’s Bachelorette Party, Bridal Shower, and Wedding. Soon. I promise. I will post them. Hopefully I can work on it tonight while JH is managing the Bocce league.
A Few New Things on My Plate:
Now that all of our thank you notes have been mailed – I’m going to start working on organizing our house. It’s seriously out of control. I want to be able to actually use our office, instead of it looking like the inside of a Public Storage unit.
Refinish the old cabinet I landed on Craigslist for a whomping $125! Paint color options to come. I want to finish this project THIS weekend. Plus make cake balls. Ha!
I have a set of bedroom furniture that needs to be refinished as well. And along with my two Ellen Allen chairs, I also have a couch that needs reupholstered.
I need to work on an invitation for our Annual 23rd Christmas Party. I think we are pushing 100 family members now. Since my mother will be in culinary school until a week before Christmas, she has put me in charge of the whole thing. I don’t mind. I’m going to be Kelly from The Webb Family to work!
I’m on the planning committee for our community’s Annual Crystal Ball with a group of my personal friends. The event is in January but the planning is already in full swing.
My mother asked me to plan an art show for a young man close to our family. He wants to sell his art and give 1/2 the proceeds to a local charity. I think he’s 10. How awesome is that?!
JH and I going to start working with a group of people from our church on a fundraising project for our sister parish in Uganda. I’m really really excited about getting involved. A few Sundays ago, Father Gerald, the Priest from Uganda, said Mass at our church. I was so moved by his words & stories. I cried through the entire Mass. During a visit to our parish 7 years ago, a little girl gave him $12.75 from her piggy bank. He was able to feed lunch to 200 children with that $12.75. That’s powerful. There are 800 children in their school, only 100 of them have shoes and most of the children are unable to eat while at school due to lack of funds. The direct connection to the people of Uganda through our sister parish makes is hard NOT to help. The people are so grateful. I will keep you posted on our progress.
Here’s to it being Friday-Eve and here’s to you, my sweet readers!
