My son is almost 2 so this year I am trying to start some traditions with him. I think the greatest one is going to be going to a pottery place and making a plate to hang up. I am going to “try” to get something that documents his age and size…maybe a hand or foot print if he will cooperate. Also I put a tree in his room and just watching him play in there and awe over it def makes it a must every year…so new traditions around here
My favorite tradition is making Lasagna at Christmas. My family has done it for generations, though I’m not sure of it’s origin!
How gorgeous! My favorite tradition about all holidays is all of the family gathering together for the entire day. Other favorites include: getting/giving new pajamas on Christmas Eve and baking cookies for Santa (and yourself). Happy holidays!

I love going to pick out the Christmas tree and dedicating a whole night to making sure it looks perfect!!
I especially love trudging out into the woods and cutting down our own tree. My favorite part of the Christmas celebration is having all my family in one place. Christmas music in the background. The “kids” playing board games. Mom in the kitchen. Dad playing the piano. Grandma watching it all. And making memories for years to come.
Christmas eve church with the whole family!
going to my nanas on christmas day w/all of the aunts/uncles/cousins
LOTS of meaningful traditions including caroling, church on Christmas Eve, etc. However, since my very first Christmas back in 1948 the Horn clan has gathered at Christmas to celebrate faith and family. My parents & grandparents gathered even before I was born, so this tradition is most likely close to 70 years young. We still gather and our number has certainly grown. We celebrate on the 23rd now as we try to remember to keep the 24th and 25th “free” to immediate family traditions. Looking forward to another grand gathering this year. Love you Nina Bellina
The Christmas Pickle! We hide a tiny green pickle ornament on the tree somewhere and the person who finds it first gets a prize.
My favorite tradition is Christmas Eve at my grandparent’s house in Chicago. There is NOTHING like Christmas in Chicago! The snow, the huge tree downtown, the Marshall Field’s Christmas Windows, Millennium Park Ice Skating! I get goosebumps just thinking about it…
I miss home..”sigh”
We just started a family and no new traditions yet. But I am going to start new PJ’s for the kid(s) on Christmas eve.
My favorite tradition is listening to The Carpenter’s Christmas cd while putting up Christmas decorations. We always listened to it when I was growing up, and now my husband and baby are forced to listen as well
I know they’ll grow to love it someday.
My favorite tradition is getting in the car with laceys (cookies), hot chocolate and the kids and we drive around looking at all the lights. It’s so fun and it’s warm and cozy in the car
My favorite tradition is eating Chili and home made cinnamon rolls at my grandma’s house on Christmas Eve. We have such a great time and have done the chili dinner since before i was born…34 years ago!
in my immediate family, we love to give our daughter Jammie’s on Christmas eve.
My favorite family tradition is getting everyone together Christmas afternoon and opening presents! For the past two years, since my parents separated, we’ve had to do this two times – once with my mom at her house, and once with my dad at his house. I’m over-the-moon excited this year because my parents have decided to be friends again and we get to be all together at Christmas this year and get to bring back the tradition I grew up with! If I don’t get anything else this Christmas, that will make my holiday! And my son will be able to experience Christmas with everyone together for the first time that he will be able to remember!
Love these calendars! I’ve been wanting to order one. I love the style – they are so classy and much better than some of the others available online!
My favorite tradition is getting together with my family (parents and grandparents) on Christmas morning and cooking breakfast. We always have enough food for 20 people and sit around eating ham biscuits while we open presents. Nothing says Christmas morning like a ham biscuit.
My favorite tradition is that regardless of what time it is, after presents my mom always makes a nice big breakfast of whatever we want. It’s nice to just have that time to sit around and talk to my immediate family before the craziness of my extended family starts in the afternoon.
The year we got married, my dad bought us the Swarovski ornament for that year. Now, we buy the annual ornament and have a special tree to put all six of them on! I love putting out that tree and remembering each year we’ve been married when we put the ornaments on the tree.
These calendars are great! This is being added to my list of Christmas ideas for others. My favorite tradition is when we would spend Christmas at my Grandma’s. We would go to church on Christmas Eve for a Candlelight Service and when we got home we would take pictures in front of the tree with our pretty dresses. After we would beg to open one present and would end up opening them all. Thus getting to sleep in on Christmas Day.
I love buying our tree the day after Thanksgiving and spending the evening decorating it with the kids!!
We got to waffle house on Christmas Eve after the candlelight service!!
last minute wrapping Christmas Eve night with my sisters and watching a Christmas movie!!
What a great giveaway! My favorite holiday tradition is decorating the Christmas tree and baking cookies!
This is my daughters first Christmas so I’m passing on one of my favorite Christmas traditions with her…listening to Christmas music on the radio all the time starting the day after Thanksgiving. My husbands dreads it but I could list ALL. DAY. LONG.
Favorite holiday tradition? New pajamas from “the elves” on Christmas Eve.
Decorating cookies. Even if I don’t win this I’m going to make one right now for my sister and her husband.
My favorite holiday tradition is exchanging love letters with my husband on Christmas Eve with pajamas about all the events of the year and how our love has grown (along with other mushy stuff). This year we’ll be doing it all thanks to USPS with him deployed, but we’ll make it work!
$1 Gift Exchange. We read “Twas the Night Before Christmas” on Christmas Eve before Mass. Each time the reader says the word ‘the”, we pass the gift to the left. It was great to be able to open one present before Mass as a kid, now it is funny to see who can get the craziest $1 gift!
Cute, cute! I love our tradition of taking a vacation on Thanksgiving every year- just my hubby and myself. It took a little bit of getting used to for the families, but now everyone knows to expect it!
Simply beautiful! My favorite tradition is trimming the tree with my husband….we drink wine and eat cheese and listen to Bing Crosby….it’s magical!
My favorite holiday tradition is finding our Xmas tree and then decorating it. Also, I love making the Xmas cookies for Santa (and me!).

I love the candle light Christmas Eve service at church…and then heading back home to eat with family and friends. And nothing is better than still waking up at the crack of dawn on Christmas morning (even though we have no little kids in our family right now)!
Thanks for hosting the giveaway! skite001 @ hotmail dot com
Advent Calendars! I can’t wait to start “counting down the days” with C this year! What a great giveaway Nina, thanks!
My most favorite thing is gathering around and watching as each person opens their gifts. We give the person opening gifts our full attention and we watch the surprised look on their face. The look of surprise is priceless!
This is not my favorite holiday tradition, but it applies to the giveaway—My siblings and I make my mom a calendar photo every year for Christmas. I am LOVING these!
Ahhh! So cute. My favorite tradition is waiting until after Thanksgiving to avoid anything Christmas. Once Thanksgiving has passed, we bring out all of the decorations, ornaments and tree, and decorate the house while listening to Christmas songs and drinking egg nog. Mmmm.
My brother is a Christmas baby, and while I hated it while growing up, my favorite holiday tradition now is that we end all Christmas festivities at lunch on the 25th and the rest of the day/evening we spend celebrating my brother’s birthday.
Decorating the tree must be my favorite tradition…and the kids too! They love taking turns putting the angel on top!
My favorite holiday tradition is also driving around to look at all the lights with my parents!
My favorite holiday tradition was created after moving over 1000 miles from my family… it’s calling my family and opening gifts over speaker phone. I get to hear my siblings, parents and nieces open their gifts and can imagine their excitement. Hopefully I’ll get a webcam soon, so we can all actually see the excitement!!
baking with my mom and sister–they even wait for me to get to CA to continue the tradition!
My daughter is 5 and this will be our 3rd year to wrap up 25 Christmas books and unwrap one each night before bed for a bedtime story. Every year we pick a new one to add in the rotation.
Decorating a gingerbread house with my daughter, we do it every year! Love these calendars! Thanks!
We have always had a big meal on Christmas Eve, and I’ve always loved that tradition. I am really looking forward to making new traditions with Matt as our family (one day, not today) expands!
My son is two this year and so far our favorite holiday tradition. Is going to see Santa at Phipps Mall and having brunch and hot chocolate after. He gets so excited. These calendars are just precious. Love it!
My favorite tradition is going on top of the mountain with my family and picking out the perfect Christmas tree to chop down.
Love them! My favorite tradition is Christmas Eve dinner with my immediate family. Small and intimate. Afterwards, we go visit with family friends.
our favorite holiday tradition is opening the family presents on christmas eve, and santa’s on christmas day
I love going to pick out a christmas tree and decorating it while drinking hot chocolate
My favorite holiday tradition is trimming the tree as a family. My sister and I always quibble about who is going to put the ballerina ornaments on the tree, it sounds silly, but we have the very same friendly argument every year for the past 25 years! It isn’t Christmas until the ballerinas come out!
Our advent calendar was one the greatest things growing up and I can’t wait to pass down the tradition when we start our own family. We would all see who could wake up first to move the reindeer from one date to the other. We still love to go to the parents house now as grown ups and move it the night before so that Dad couldn’t do it the next day. It was so much fun!
Super cool giveaway; I love the look of those calendars!
My favorite holiday tradition is my husband and I cooking breakfast (a full spread, BIG breakfast) for our entire family, after opening up Santa’s presents on Christmas morning. Everyone looks forward to what we cook, and we look forward to making it together.
My favorite tradition is watching “A Christmas Story” with my husband on Christmas Eve. TBS does a marathon every year and often times we find ourselves watching different parts of it again throughout the day – it keeps us laughing all day!
Watching Christmas movies with the family!
My Dad reads “A Child’s Christmas in Whales” every Christmas night.
My grandmother started when we were babies getting us a christmas tree ornament every year that reflected something we had done that past year. Now that I’m all old and grown up, it’s nice to look back on my tree and see all the ornaments and memories from years past!

My favorite holiday tradition is decorating the tree with Christmas music on and drinking some hot cider:)
My FAV tradition starts this weekend…DECORATING my home with all my holiday treasures with Christmas music playing and a nice cozy fire. It will be perfect as the forecast here in the Midwest is chilly with some snow. I’m super excited to get started.
My parents always give us new pjs on Christmas Eve, and we all go to my grandparents’ house in New Orleans on Christmas Day with my ten cousins and all my aunts and uncles.
we open one present before mass on xmas eve, and then santa comes while we are at mass
My favorite holiday tradition has always been a day full of baking Christmas cookies with my mom and sister, then watching Christmas Vacation as a family once we were all finished! It’s harder now that we all aren’t together, but I remember it fondly!
I adore watching White Christmas. It is one of my all time favorite movies and makes me shed happy tears every time!
My favorite holiday tradition is making cinnamon rolls with my mom. Now we are carrying on the tradition with my own daughters.
I love getting new pajamas with my sisters and brother and then going to look at Christmas lights on Christmas eve. Then we all sleep in the same room (yes we are grown!) and ring jingle bells in the morning to let our parents know we are awake. So excited this year because my new hubby will be joining in!!!
Great giveaway on a fantastic blog! My favorite Christmas tradition is from my New England grandparents – oyster stew and champagne for dinner before Christmas Eve church at midnight. Since in Iive in India at the moment, no oyster stew, but we’ll have homemade soup to carry on the tradition.
I love the Elf on the Shelf and our annual Horn Family Christmas with all my mom’s side of the family! A huge gathering!
Christmas would not be the same without Midnight mass, then coming home to eat homemade Creme Brulee. My sisters and I then get new matching Christmas pajamas from our parents to wear on Christmas eve! Now that I have a hubby, he is in on the pajama fun, too!
My husband’s English and his mother sends us two British chocolate advent calendars each year. Hubby is like a little kid when he gets to open his each day and I adore sharing that with him.
The day after Thanksgiving my family would put up the tree and we would order pizza! It was such a treat….and putting up the tree is always so magical.
watching The Grinch with my family!
Oh my gosh…I LOVE this calendar! My favorite tradition: Christmas Eve…making cookies for Santa and watching It’s a Wonderful Life!
My favorite tradition is definitely getting an ornament each year from my grandma. She has given my cousins and I each our own ornament every year since we were born!
My favourite holiday tradition is Christmas Eve. Beef & cheese fondue, opening only 1 gift, fireplace lit, hot chocolate, watching “santa’s” fly across the world and tons of family!!!
I love to break out the advent calendar and fill a pocket each day for my daughter to find. Can’t wait to do that tonight when we get home.
Favorite holiday tradition is getting up early with all the girls in the family on Black Friday and having breakfast at our local diner before diving in head first to the Christmas crowds at Target! This year was more of a late dinner since the stores opened so darn early!
I have 2 favorites! First is my precious Daddy reading the Christmas Story to us on Christmas Eve. Second is playing Dirty Santa with the whole family on Christmas Day. There have been some doozies over the years and we just have a blast playing!
Each year my family sits in the very back pew for the traditional Christmas Eve carol service. When it comes to “Angels We Have Heard on High,” my mom, sisters and I get a LITTLE carried away on the chorus, singing so loudly (especially the harmony part that no one else sings) that people sometimes turn around to see who’s behind them. My Dad pretends to be embarrassed and ducks out early to get the car (joined by our husbands now that we’re married). It’s such an odd annual tradition but has become really special to me.
My favorite tradition involves our Christmas tree. We always make a big trip out of selecting our fraser fur each year and then devote a fun night to decorating it while listening to Christmas music!
My favorite holiday tradition is going to the Christmas Eve service at church–including the family Christmas-themed talent show!
My favorite holiday tradition is Christmas breakfast – we make my great-grandma’s almond roll every year. Delicious – and so many years of memories!
my favorite tradition is having a big family dinner christmas eve and after dinner all 15+ cousins hang out outside by the firepit and my cousins kids make smores
Great question Nina….my favorite holiday tradition is definitely baking cookies and usually making some sort of homemade gift (this year, it’s ice candles). For many years, before digital photos, I made computer family calendars..last year, I made cheap photo calendars at Walmart. These minted ones look way nicer so I hope I win this one!
My favorite holiday tradition is exchanging gifts with my sister on Christmas Eve instead of Christmas morning. We began doing this about 15 years ago and even though we are both living on our own I look forward to going back to my dad’s house after Christmas Eve dinner at my grandparents, getting into our pajamas and opening our gifts to eachother.
My favorite tradition is sending cards I feel like I camt afford to give everyone a gift but it is my way to give everyone something!
Merry Christmas!!
Getting out the ornaments. Almost every ornament on our tree represents a trip we’ve taken, a favorite memory, the birth of the kids, etc. There are even a few “antique” ones my husband made himself when he was young. It’s always a trip down memory lane.
Ornaments! We have so many special ones from each year of our marriage and now new ones for our son. Its so much fun to look at each of them and remember who bought them, where we were, etc. I just love it!
Watching “It is a wonderful Life” on Christmas eve after church and a party with my mom’s family. I cry every time and I know every word but it is a classic and I really look forward to Christmas eve .
