Urban Grace Interiors is currently one of my favorite blogs. I get so excited when it’s highlighted in my Google Reader. This kitchen was part of yesterday’s post and it’s safe to say this has been recorded as Dream Kitchen #565,792 in my book.
Moving on to the subject at hand… Fabric Hunting.
Below is our master bedroom bedding. Except ours doesn’t have a bed to go with it quite yet. Well, we have a mattress and box spring but no bed. We want a big, chunky poster bed in dark wood. So we wait.
For now I want to add some color & design to our bedding and work on decorating the room to take away from the lack of furniture!
Here’s an up-close look at the pictures of our current bedding from Potterybarn. Sandalwood is the color. We have the quilt in sandalwood as well.
A few fabric swatches from Fabric.com – I love these two prints for our bedroom. I adore textured fabrics like the cheetah below and in non-traditional colors. I also like mixing traditional prints like paisley to keep it classic. I would like to use a solid texture for the windows, the cheetah for two altar boy chairs from JH’s childhood (which I’m slightly obsessed with) and the paisley for accent pillows and possible one additional accent piece of some sort… maybe fabric buckets or a runner for our dresser?
Next room, our guest room needs work too… as soon as I find a place for all of the shower and wedding gifts still taking up residence in there… I will add window treatments and furniture.
We’re inheriting some furniture from my parent’s attic. I’m trying to find a place that will “dip” it – dipping = removing all paint &/or stain down to the bare wood. Some say this is not good for the furniture but it’s an ideal option for this specific project if I can find a place in our area.
I’m considering this fabric for window panels for the guest room.
The guest bathroom is in desperate need of a shower curtain. Let me tell you how much I hate shower curtains in retail stores. A LOT. I’ve bought two since we’ve been married, tried using an old one that I had from my Chicago apartment and they are all a no-go in my book. The Potterybarn shower curtain I bought looked like it was 100 years old. Not the look I’m going for. I want my rooms to have character and charm in order to create a unique environment for those in it to enjoy.
So after numerous days of fabric hunting, I found this combo for our guest bathroom. It’s bright, cheerful and warm all at the same time! I just love it. If you’ve been reading this blog for anytime at all, you know I’m a huge fan of orange in general. I think it would be a bold compliment to the guest bedroom.
My House to Home To-Do List:
- Make final decision on fabric for new sectional
- Order the above fabrics
- Refinish furniture for the guest bedroom
- Reupholster 2 oversized wing chairs plus matching ottoman (most likely to go in the “office” for now)
- Reupholster 2 altar boy chairs
- Find a entryway table & mirror
- Start hanging prints & pictures on our walls
- I need culinary school to be over for my mother so I can put her to work on all of these sewing projects
- Disclaimer: I do not know how to reupholster furniture. We have a sweet little lady in our area that is an expert! She’ll be reupholstering our pieces.

It all looks wonderful!!! Funny…we have the SAME bedding in our master from PB, except in espresso. AND I picked out that SAME paisley fabric for a window seat option, great minds think alike=) LOVE the bathroom combo.
I think Meredith might move into your guest bathroom! Looks like you picked the fabric just with her in mind
I love all the fabric you’ve chosen, it’s all beautifully traditional with a modern twist. I love fabric like that- I don’t want anything that’ll scream “2009″ when I look back at photos in 20 year’s time.
You have such great taste! I love the colors you use. Everything looks so classy and fresh.
Looks like a lot of fun projects to tackle! Have fun!
Oh, almost forgot Calico Corners has the best fabrics!
Have been busy and haven’t had time to read up on my blogs….found this somewhat comical. I just purchased orange towels last night at the Kohl’s sale for my guest bathroom. I’ve yet to find a shower curtain that I’ll spend money on and decided last night to start looking for fabric to make my own!
I also have a couple chairs that my mother bought for $1 each, frames are in great shape and I need to determine what fabric for those (one is just a photo prop).
