JH & I are engaged!!!!!!!!!!!!! It will be two weeks on Friday.
This picture was taken as soon as our parents arrived after the proposal… J had already taken his tie off (and after a few tears). I had NO idea he was going to propose, therefore the night did not go as smoothly as J would have liked. I took forever to eat my dinner & I even ordered an hors d’oeuvre which I rarely do. It makes for a great story though. Except, if I would have known what was going to happen, I would have suggested we skip dinner all together!
And, if I would have known I was going to get engaged, I would NOT have worn the same top I wore in our Christmas card photo! Oh well.
So back to the details, it was a very snowy night and we ended up being the only people in one of our favorite restaurants. A restaurant with a lot of family history for both of us. Once we were finished with dinner, J brought up all of our upcoming travels which led us to taking a trip down memory lane. We agreed we didn’t want to spend another holiday apart… and this is where it gets very blurry for me.
The next thing I knew, J had a gorgeous red box in his hand that had a very shiny object inside! It was an oval shape three stone ring. He said “will you marry me?” and I immediately replied, “Yes!”. He picked the oval shape because it represents a big family, the two side stones represent each of our families and the center stone is in hopes that WE too will have a big family one day. Yes, lots of tears.
We both feel extremely blessed to have found each other – when we were least expecting it (and to think how badly I hated when people used to say that to me!) – and we could not be more excited about spending the rest of our lives together! I still have a hard time believing the man of my dreams was living just a short 6 miles away from me practically my whole life and I never even heard his name until I was 28. Timing is everything and I’m here to tell you it was more than worth the wait!!
So, now you know why I haven’t been blogging. We celebrated for a good 48 hours straight & then it was time to start planning!
