What are your kids going to be for Halloween?

by Nina on October 20, 2011

I fell in love with this knitted sock monkey outfit from Chasing-Fireflies before Jack was born. At first I thought it was a little pricey but once I started looking at other costumes and all the items that would be needed – turtlenecks, pants, shoes etc. – the price was close to the same. I saved by not ordering him a cute personalized trick-or-treat bucket. He’s 3.5 months old… I don’t think anyone’s handing out Similac this year!

BONUS, he can wear the sweater with regular pants after Halloween which I love. Makes paying the money for a costume a little less painful! I’m a big fan of “sandbox pants” or “play pants” as some call them. I love the children’s patterns by Oliver + S. And as most of you know by now, my grandma is a very talented seamstress therefore she can whip up a pair of sandbox pants for Jack faster than I can write this blog post. I found this fun sock monkey flannel for her to make a pair of pants for Jack to wear with his sweater after Halloween. Pretty cute, don’t you think?

This is an absolutely precious costume, and how cute will Jack’s play pants be?! With the sudden burst of cold weather we got in NW Florida this morning, I’m thinking the sweater looks pretty comfy right now, too :)

What a perfect costume for Jack, it is adorable and looks so snuggly and warm. I can’t wait to see a picture of him all dressed up!

That sock monkey is adorable! But man, pricey! All at the expense of cuteness I suppose. :) Kirsten’s going to be the cutest little elephant, and Simon is going to be a peanut. Wouldn’t it be nice if people did hand out Similac? :) Happy Halloween to you and Jack!

I love this costume! It’s precious, and you’re absolutely right – you save not having to buy pants and a turtleneck, etc, etc. We’ve been trying to decide what to dress our daughter (10 months) as. I’ve bought a cute pumpkin costume, but I don’t feel like it’s very original. Now I’m contemplating dressing her as a Democrat – quite a humorous contrast from her GOP parents!

So Cute!

At first I wasn’t going to get Hudson a costume this year since we were moving Halloween weekend but we’ve moved our move back a week so I had to scramble! H is going to be Bob The Builder!

Jack will be so adorable! BB is going to be a lion (obsessed with roaring these days) and LB is going to be a monkey and Mr. and I are going to be zookeepers–not far from reality :-)

Oh man…that is one cute costume…my daughter is going to be Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz and my son wants to be the most disgusting and scary monster.

What an adorable costume! I love the idea of using the sweater in the future. Really stretches out your usage of this precious costume. We will be dressing up our “fur” babies, costumes still to be determined:)

A Ladybug! I just bought the finishing touches today. I can’t wait to put her in it and share photos, it’s going to be precious.

I *really* wanted the Tom Arma butterfly, but it was sold out in her size. Since she’s not sitting up on her own yet, I don’t think it would have worked out anyway, so it’s probably for the best.

I love that outfit – my 3 year old is insistent on being a monkey this year – its currently her favorite creature.

Oh my, that is just the sweetest thing. And I love the cozy pants your grandmother is going to make for Jack to wear with the sweater after. Molly is going to be a bumblebee; she’s got the cutest black and yellow striped tights that will be adorable with a black sweater dress and clogs after Halloween :)

Too funny… we looked at the sock monkey, too! Fin is going to be a lion. We thought he deserved it after how brave he’s been for the past 13 months!
