Dorothy Perkins Purchase

by Nina on February 7, 2012

I cannot remember where I learned about Dorothy Perkins but I’ve been browsing the site for a few weeks now and finally placed an order for one item to check out the quality. I ordered this red quilted vest and am more than pleased with my purchase. It’s thinner than your traditional active vest but it still breaks the wind. I’m a big fan of vests in general but I especially like quilted vests. I’m also working on stocking up on my red and green for our town’s Italian fest so this will be a great piece for May in southern Illinois. The weather can be 90 degrees one day and 50 the next so you must be prepared for anything.

A day or so before my item arrived, Vera Sweeney tweeted about her Dorothy Perkins order and that she had to pay $85 in fees to customs for her order. An order that cost less than $85! WHAT!? We tweeted and I decided I couldn’t do much other than wait for my order and the call from customs. There is good news, I received my order and have yet to receive a call or email from customs but I wanted to warn you of this issue in advance to you clicking over to place an order. I do believe the Attorney General’s office has been connected about the issue to confirm the call and email were not a scam. Just be careful!

Moving on, if you’re in the market for fashion tops for work or play Dorothy Perkins has a nice selection. I’m debating whether or not to order all three of these for my upcoming trip to Nashville for Blissdom. We’ll see!

I’m not as crazy about vests but I love that stripes top!

I’ve looked on their website for months and months, but have never ordered anything. After hearing about that crazy $85 charge, I might have to skip! Let us know if they charge you, please.

I wonder if she ordered off the UK website. They have two different ones I think. One for the Brits and a US one for us:)

Cute vest!!!!

Customs is so frustrating! I live abroad and have to pay duty on anything I purchase that arrives via mail. I had a box sent to me that took over 65 days to arrive and then I was smacked with a $75USD duty fee. And you you have to pay, in correct change, when they deliver. (Which of course you have no idea the date it will arrive, or the price!) Good luck and cute vest!
