I was tagged by Lulu from The Dirty Martini Diaries for a Candy Cane tag. Thanks, Lulu!!! I know at least one other person tagged me but I’ve missed placed it so please comment and let me know and I’ll update with a link to your page. I’m so sorry for being so unorganized lately!
{UPDATE} Mrs. Jetplane was my other lovely friend that tagged me!! She is so sweet and ironically we both grew up in southern Illinois. I’m so glad we are friends, Mrs!!
{UPDATE 2} Sarah from Downtown Southern tagged me too. Her blog is fantastic and I love that she had a traditional Scottish wedding just like Charlotte York! Thank you for your friend(blog)ship, Sarah!

So…here are the questions and my answers:
1. What is your favorite Christmas Movie? This is tough because we start watching Christmas movies after Halloween so I have a lot. Actually it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for us to watch one in the middle of July either
All time fave is Miracle on 34th Street and there is a tie for more-recent fave between The Holiday & The Family Stone. But I pretty much love all the Classics.
2. Favorite Christmas Song? I know ALL the words to pretty much every Christmas song on the Light FM stations (hah) but I do not know any of the names or artists. I am especially fond of the Up-Beat Carols and I like to play them REALLY LOUD in the car and sing at the top of my lungs. Kind of like Meg Ryan in Sleepless in Seattle, “Harses, Harses, Harses…”
3. Favorite Holiday Memory? Christmas of 1998, this was the year my parents met and we (the whole fam or soon-to-be at that time) left for Florida on Christmas Day. We ran through the airport (like in Home Alone) in order to make the flight… literally made it as they were shutting the door!
4. What is your favorite cookie/treat to make? This award goes to my mother for the VERY BEST whole made sugar cookies known to man. She also has MAD decorating skills! She didn’t make these yesterday but seriously they are little pieces of art. I will mos def post pictures when she makes them later this week.
5. Have you ever made an igloo? YES YES YES!! My uncles made me one when I was about 3 (I think). I’m in search of a picture to scan in – I know we have one or two around here somewhere. I might have to pay a visit to my Aunt’s house but I will get a picture, I promise.
6. Do you love Starbucks? Do I love Starbucks… what kind of question is that?
7. What makes the perfect Snowman? I am going to have to agree with my fellow bloggers… it is ALL in the accessories!
8. Not sure what happened to #8 so we’ll move on…
9. Best gift you have ever received? The ones that stick out in my mind are the ones that were “surprises.” I love surprises and strangely, I do not get them very often! Circa 1999, Kate Spade purse and bright blue coat. I loved them both!! That year I was also surprised with a Tiffany’s bracelet with my sorority letters engraved in the heart. Loved that too!! I can remember being super excited over all of my gifts and could not wait to return to the Sig Kap house with all of my new accessories.
10. What is the snowman’s name on Rudolph? SAM the Snowman
11. Silver or Gold? Both!
12. What is your favorite Christmas decoration? Oh Lord, you’ve seen the pictures of my parents house, how could I have just one?
13. What’s your Christmas decorating style? At the Damen Abode we put up our tree and left it up til Valentine’s day the last year that we lived there, smashed it in the storage closet still put together around the 17th of Feb. and then threw it in the dumpster behind the apartment the day we moved out! So funny! Other than the tree, we had stockings that Nadia made, ornaments that I had collected over the years from Hundley House (the name of the Gift Shop my mother owned when I was in college) and random other stuff from our parents & grandparents. Jenna’s G’ma made us Silver painted pine cones that were adorable
Love ya, G’ma Coghill!
14. Do you hang stockings? Of Course!
15. How many days do you celebrate Christmas? The entire month of Dec.
16. What was your favorite ornament on the tree as a child? I can’t really remember – Christmas has always been a big deal at our house so there is always a lot to take in!!
17. Where will you be spending this Christmas? 703 with The Kiks, Frosty and the Whole Gang!!
18. When you do open presents? We open 1 present Christmas Eve which is always a pair of PJ’s for us to wear for Christmas Morning (I think we’ll still be doing this when I’m 50!). But other than that, we stick to the standard tradition of opening gifts Christmas Morning and they are still from Santa!
I’m passing this on to the 3 in my Reader with the latest additions…

I love that you guys open one present on xmas eve and it is pajamas!! We did that too growing up, over the years we lost the tradition, but we all plan to do it for our little ones in the future
Hey Nina. I blogged about the Christmas card you made for us and p.s. I was the one that tagged you earlier for this.
Just had to say (as Nina’s Mom) you are never too old to get pj’s on Christmas Eve. The rule at this house is the girls have to match and the boys have to match. (The boys always grunt and moan but they know they have no choice and secretly I think they like wearing them anyway,) When I was young my mother used to make all the girls matching flannel nightgowns….you know the ones you see in movies with the ruffle around the yoke. They were great…on cold nights, watching Christmas movies, you could get your knees all up inside them and stay toasty warm. I’ll just take the opportunity to wish all of Nina’s readers a very Merry and toasty warm Christmas. Kiks
Love your answers!! I tagged you too! : )
