HerrinFesta Italiana is a celebration of our town’s Italian heritage. It’s an annual Memorial Day weekend festival featuring great Italian food, family fun, and primo entertainment.
The festivities start early in the week for us with the Miss HerrinFesta Scholarship Pageant on Monday, the Honorees Banquet on Tuesday, and a private rooftop party on Wednesday. The Festa opens on Thursday with rides and the weekend’s first concert. The Bocce tournaments start on Friday with the Corporate Tournament, followed by the Sponsor’s Party Friday evening.
The Sponsor’s Party is Jack’s second favorite event after the Grand Parade. He loves to see many of his family and friends in one place, along with pizza, cheese, and Italian bread with olive oil! His adorable outfits were custom made by PersonaliTy Southern Children’s Classics. I loved the outfits so much last year that I asked Salinda to make the exact same ones only bigger for this year! After the little scare with a short case of RSV early in the week, Caroline stayed home with a babysitter and didn’t make her first Festa appearance until Saturday at the parade.
The very sweet, Crystal Faye made this precious bubble for Caroline and her bonnet is from my newest favorite site The Beaufort Bonnet Company.
Jack loved everything about the parade. He didn’t even mind the long line of firetrucks with very loud sirens!
Our church hosts the Special Intention Mass for Festa and it was the only day we were all together in our green, white and red! I’m so glad we were able to capture one photo of the four of us to remember Festa 2013 by.We’ve been doing a lot of relaxing and resting this week, but we truly enjoyed every minute of volunteering, participating, partying, and simply being a part of our wonderful community!
