Leather
Leather can be tricky but if you pick the right color and classic design it will be a staple in your closet for many years to come. Cognac is my favorite leather color. I love it because it can be worn with black and brown. Also, make sure the leather is of good quality. It doesn't have to be a major investment. The jacket above is priced at $299.
Stripes
You can add stripes with a shift dress like these shown above (left, right). Sweaters and knit tops are also great options for adding stripes to your closet. Find stripes in colors that are flattering to you and make sure the item fits your body well. Ill-fitting stripes are not attractive on anyone.Faux Fur Vest
Fur vests are here to stay, so you need to get yourself one. Make sure it's not too trendy. The one I'm sharing here has great coloring and shape. It will be in style for a long time. Fur vests are very easy to wear. Pair one with blank ankle pants and black turtleneck, over a long-sleeve tee with jeans, or even over a simple dress.Straight Leg Jeans
Speaking of jeans, the all-american boot cut is great and so are your favorite skinnies, but the classic straight leg jean (left, right) is a must-have for every woman. They are extremely flattering to many body shapes. They can be worn with flats, heels, boots and even sandals. Versatile is key when you're adding basics to your wardrobe and these fit the bill.Denim Shirt
Denim shirts have become a staple piece for every season. They were everywhere during the Summer paired with white jeans or chino shorts. Now, we're seeing them under quilted vests with colored corduroys or paired with tweed skirts and colored ankle pants. You can really change up the look of a denim shirt into many different styles.Ankle boots
It took me a little while to jump on board with ankle boots but they are truly a wonderful addition to your closet. You can wear them with skirts, jeans, dresses. Again, you want to make sure to choose a pair that fit your overall style, a classic color, and a simple design. Fringe is not something I consider a "basic," therefore you don't want to pick an ankle boot with fringe. Leopard Print
Leopard or cheetah whichever you prefer to call it, you should have at least one item in this print in your closet. You don't want to go overboard, but accessories and shoes are a great place to add it in. I also happen to love the cardiganI'm sharing here too.
