GIFT GIVING

Housewarming by definition is a party to celebrate a move to a new home. Although, I don't believe you have to be invited to a party to give a warm gift to bless a new home. Party or no party, my favorite housewarming gift is a It's A Wonderful Life basket.

In the movie, George Bailey (Jimmy Stewart) presents the Martinis, a basket filled with symbolic items:

Bread - that this house may never know hunger.
Salt - that life may always have flavor.
Wine - that joy and prosperity may reign forever.

I could not track down a photo of my own basket so I had to borrow this picture from The Mostess Hostess. She posted a few other versions of this gift you can read about in her post here, like using honey instead of wine.

I created these gift tags for you so you can save them to your computer and use them to create a basket the next time you need a housewarming gift.
