2012
Hi, my name is Nina. I'm a pizzaholic and I'm pregnant with our second child! Yay!
This pregnancy unlike my pregnancy with Jack all I can think about is what I'm going to eat for my next meal. Most of the time, the answer is pizza. Not just any pizza. Some days it's local pizza, some days it's Papa John's, one day it was Dominos (but never again), and this past Sunday night it was Pizza Hut breadsticks. I can't even remember the last time I had Pizza Hut but those breadsticks were delicious and I'll definitely be placing another order in the near future.
The addiction is really bad actually, I had to create a "pizza delivery" folder on my iPhone because my pizza apps were taking up too much room on my screen.
I swore I would never tell this story to a soul (well, except to Erin whom I told when it happened), but since I trust all of you I'm going to tell you what happened a couple of weeks ago.
Jack and I were running errands and lunch was fast approaching. 11 weeks pregnant I was already thinking about what sounded good and Jack was getting antsy for bit to eat himself. I still had errands to run so I knew we were going to have to eat in the car. Not something I like to do but I didn't want to get him out the car to go into a restaurant and nothing from a drive-thru sounded good to me.
I wanted pizza. Papa John's pizza to be exact. With canadian bacon and pineapple to be even more exact. Of course, the special garlic sauce is a given.
Against my better judgement and before I could talk any sense into myself, I downloaded the Papa John's app, clicked a few buttons and was told I could pick up my freshly baked pizza in 15 minutes.
I have to be honest, my wheels started to turn at this point. Where do I think I'm going to eat this pizza? I can't go to a park and pull out the grilled chicken stripes, apple sauce and apple slices for my child along with a large pizza box for myself. I can't go to Joe's office. That would be even more embarrassing than the park.
It didn't take me long to get over it. I picked up my hot pizza, found a parking lot close by, got Jack situated with his lunch, and proceeded to enjoy a few slices of the ever-so-yummy Papa John's pizza in the front seat of my car. Yes, the large box opened and strategically placed in the passenger seat of my car.
After I finished the third and final piece of pizza, panic set in. What in the world am I going to do with this pizza???? I cannot take this home. I need to dispose of all evidence that this little lunch ever happened! "I must find a dumpster," I kept repeating to myself. "I must find a dumpster!"
This was not one of my prouder moments in life but for a grand total of $10, I was one happy pregnant girl! And I have to say one of the funniest moments I've had with myself in a long time.
In all seriousness though, we could not be more thrilled about this pregnancy! It wasn't exactly "planned" as some would say, but it was a very welcomed surprised. That is, everything but the pizza cravings. I guess that could be worse, right? Our plan was to start trying for baby #2 in December so things just happened a little sooner than planned. Quite obviously, we are supposed to have a baby in March 2013!
I'm 13 weeks, 1 day pregnant. We've seen our little baby and it's strong heartbeat. My belly definitely popped out earlier this time. Most people have known for a while now just because we have a hard time keeping secrets like this in our family and my little bump has been kind of hard to hide. I have felt really great this time around, which I credit to continuing to see my trainer twice a week with the approval of my doctor. I have been exceptionally tired but I think that's normal especially being pregnant and running after a wild one-year-old.
So that's my news for today. I hope you are as excited as we are and I hope you order yourself a pizza for dinner!
