DAILY DIARY

2012

Hi, my name is Nina. I'm a pizzaholic and I'm pregnant with our second child! Yay!

This pregnancy unlike my pregnancy with Jack all I can think about is what I'm going to eat for my next meal. Most of the time, the answer is pizza. Not just any pizza. Some days it's local pizza, some days it's Papa John's, one day it was Dominos (but never again), and this past Sunday night it was Pizza Hut breadsticks. I can't even remember the last time I had Pizza Hut but those breadsticks were delicious and I'll definitely be placing another order in the near future.

The addiction is really bad actually, I had to create a "pizza delivery" folder on my iPhone because my pizza apps were taking up too much room on my screen.

I swore I would never tell this story to a soul (well, except to Erin whom I told when it happened), but since I trust all of you I'm going to tell you what happened a couple of weeks ago.

Jack and I were running errands and lunch was fast approaching. 11 weeks pregnant I was already thinking about what sounded good and Jack was getting antsy for bit to eat himself. I still had errands to run so I knew we were going to have to eat in the car. Not something I like to do but I didn't want to get him out the car to go into a restaurant and nothing from a drive-thru sounded good to me.

I wanted pizza. Papa John's pizza to be exact. With canadian bacon and pineapple to be even more exact. Of course, the special garlic sauce is a given.

Against my better judgement and before I could talk any sense into myself, I downloaded the Papa John's app, clicked a few buttons and was told I could pick up my freshly baked pizza in 15 minutes.

I have to be honest, my wheels started to turn at this point. Where do I think I'm going to eat this pizza? I can't go to a park and pull out the grilled chicken stripes, apple sauce and apple slices for my child along with a large pizza box for myself. I can't go to Joe's office. That would be even more embarrassing than the park.

It didn't take me long to get over it. I picked up my hot pizza, found a parking lot close by, got Jack situated with his lunch, and proceeded to enjoy a few slices of the ever-so-yummy Papa John's pizza in the front seat of my car. Yes, the large box opened and strategically placed in the passenger seat of my car.

After I finished the third and final piece of pizza, panic set in. What in the world am I going to do with this pizza???? I cannot take this home. I need to dispose of all evidence that this little lunch ever happened! "I must find a dumpster," I kept repeating to myself. "I must find a dumpster!"

This was not one of my prouder moments in life but for a grand total of $10, I was one happy pregnant girl! And I have to say one of the funniest moments I've had with myself in a long time.

In all seriousness though, we could not be more thrilled about this pregnancy! It wasn't exactly "planned" as some would say, but it was a very welcomed surprised. That is, everything but the pizza cravings. I guess that could be worse, right? Our plan was to start trying for baby #2 in December so things just happened a little sooner than planned. Quite obviously, we are supposed to have a baby in March 2013!

I'm 13 weeks, 1 day pregnant. We've seen our little baby and it's strong heartbeat. My belly definitely popped out earlier this time. Most people have known for a while now just because we have a hard time keeping secrets like this in our family and my little bump has been kind of hard to hide. I have felt really great this time around, which I credit to continuing to see my trainer twice a week with the approval of my doctor. I have been exceptionally tired but I think that's normal especially being pregnant and running after a wild one-year-old.

So that's my news for today. I hope you are as excited as we are and I hope you order yourself a pizza for dinner!

I so wish we had a Papa John’s in our town! The garlic sauce is so good! I’m 21 weeks pregnant and can totally relate to your post! I’ve been craving Mexican food this pregnancy, but pizza is right up there, too!

The coincidences here border on hilarious! I started reading your blog in the Spring of 2011 when I was pregnant with our Jack. He’s a month younger than your little guy. We too are unexpectedly expecting our second. I am 8 weeks, and we have our first appointment Wednesday. The pizza cravings are unreal for me this time. I didn’t have them at all with Jack. There’s nothing like Pizza Hut breadsticks or a hot pepperoni, sausage, and green pepper pizza from Papa John’s! Congratulations!!!

  • angelasadventures

Love this!!! I’m 11 weeks today and I’m so glad I’m not the only prego who’s loving her food! :) Thank you for making me feel normal and congratulations! Cheers….(with pizza in hand!).

Forgot to mention, it appears that Kiks is taking a turn for the worst in appearance as shown by that picture of her in the boat holding Jack. Hair a mess with dark roots, very stretched and wrinkled face and super floppy upper arms. Does she not have access to her hair and makeup and workout team down there in Kentucky—OOPS! Frosty may need to do another trade up. Mother and daughter both going bad—what a shame.

  • Stella Tunstall

Tell me something. When you went into the pizza place to pick up your pizza, did you take Jack? I’m thinking not as how could you carry a giant pizza and Jack also and manage the door. I bet you left him alone in the car to go get your lunch feast. What an incredible mother! Also, I bet you at more than three slices before throwing the box away. If you don’t think you are fat, where is the need to hide this from Joe?

  • Stella Tunstall

Hey rural Snooky, how’s it going? Hope you had an extra delicious lunch.

  • Stella Tunstall

On second thought Nina, I was too harsh on you. What else do you have to do in that rural area but think about eating. You are going to fit in fine with everyone there. There is nothing wrong with being fat and matronly. You can now totally identify with your MIL.

  • Stella Tunstall

Did Jack hit you in the good eye or the one that is always a bit off in your photos? Maybe if it is the bad one the hit will knock it back into place. Why didn’t Kiks get that fixed when you were a baby? I bet she would rather spend it on something for her or she hadn’t married Frosty, her money man. Oh, you can talk trainer all you want. We have seen the pictures. Your thighs and arms are FAT even if you sit on the arm of the chair so you don’t spread your thighs out. Then, that bump at 3 months. Get a grip, Nina, that is not baby that is left over fat from Jack and before. You are a fat Italian girl not unlike Snookie. Quit trying to fake us out as it isn’t working on anyone but you!!!! In the new bump photo, you have on jeans that only a fat woman would wear, double ugh!!!

  • Stella Tunstall

Nina, that Savannah who left a message earlier was rude for sure. I got on to read your blog and saw it and was shocked. So what if your dad is helping you and your husband with building a home. With another baby on the way—excited for you—-you will need as much space as you can get. Also, I’m sure you will take a break after this baby and will work all of your pregnancy weight off. If not, that’s fine. Only model type women are skinny after having a family. You look fine. Eat all of the pizza or whatever else you want. Just don’t go as far as Jessica Simpson did. I just saw today that she gained nearly 100 pregnancy pounds. I am sure you are a great mother. You will learn patience over time and get more relaxed as a mother. Hang in there and congratulations to you and your husband and also to big brother, Jack.

Congratulations, Nina!! Very excited for you. Oh, and I’m sure every single woman can relate to that “need pizza now” feeling … preggo or not!

  • Jennifer Lackey

So happy for you, Nina! I share your love of pizza– and I’m not even pregnant. I could eat it every day and be one happy camper!

Nina! I am so happy for your sweet family. I wanted to leave you a comment and say that I was obsessed with pizza while pregnant with Braylen. It lasted the entire pregnancy and Allen always jokes and says, “Jenn would say, ‘hmm I haven’t had a slice of pizza in the last 8 hours, looks like I better call the delivery guy.’” :)

NINA!! Yay, yay, yay! I am so excited for your little family to grow.

Congratulations Nina!!! Looking forward to hearing more about baby #2!

Pregnancy cravings are serious business. I pretty much only ate mashed potatoes early in my pregnancy. And then vanilla milkshakes (from McDonald’s mainly) were a daily indulgence until delivery!

Congratulations! I’m 33 weeks pregnant with my second and pizza is my vice too! I wonder if I’m carrying a boy because I’m craving pizza and beer! Obviously I can’t indulge the beer and I just found out I have gestational diabetes so the pizza is out too! Have a slice for me! I have to admit, I was really hoping you were going to say you had the pizza delivered to your car!

  • Crystal Dorr

Congrats! I am pregnant with our first and my only consistent craving has been pizza, or really anything with tomatos! I can’t get enough of it! :)
