Lil' Sippee by Tommee Tippee from Babies R Us

I've asked this question on Twitter before but I need more help. After unloading the dishwasher this morning, I have a pile of mismatched sippy cup parts and I've had just about enough. I feel bad throwing away cups and/or lids but if I don't have all the parts what's the point in keeping them.

Currently Tommee Tippee cups are our favorites. We also have Playtex spill-proof insulated straw cups and we've tried the Munchkin straw cups too.

My Pros and Cons to each:

Tommee Tippee Straw Cups
Pros
They really do not leak.
They are very durable.
Cons
They are very hard to take apart and clean.
I can only find replacement parts for one style of cup and it's not the one we use.

Playtex Insulated Straw Cups
Pros
They don't leak too bad.
They have fun designs on the insulated cups we like.
You can buy them in almost any major retail store.
Cons
I can't find replacement parts

Munchkin Straw Cups
Pros
You can easily find replacement straws.
They are very easy to take apart for cleaning and reassemble.
They have fun character designs that are fun for kids.
Cons
They leak!

My Questions for you:

What's your favorite brand of straw sippy cups?

What do you do about replacement parts? Valves, straws etc?

Where do you buy the replacement parts?

Do you use one brand and type of sippy cup or do you use different types and brands?

I'd like to find one brand/type to use exclusively but I want to be able to buy the replacement parts. I don't want to constantly be throwing away very good products just because I've lost an inside straw part to the garbage disposal.

Your help is very much appreciated!

We use the Nuby brand straw cups that you can find at Walmart/Target.  My biggest complaint is that they aren’t insulated, but I don’t have too many problems with leaking and they are easy to clean/keep up with the parts, though I do normally wash them by hand.  I just do it at night when I’m already cleaning the dinner dishes since I don’t put pots, pans, sharp knives, etc in my dishwasher.  Plus, they’re less than $3 each, so if (when) they get lost it’s not a huge deal.

You have the right idea with the straw cups. My older son’s speech therapist told me to only use straw sippys because straws are better for speech. We use the playtex ones and I love them. This may not be the answer you are looking for but instead of putting them in the dishwasher I just hand wash the cups every night. This way no parts are misplaced. It only takes about 7 minutes to do all the cups so it should not add a bunch of work for you.

We use these for M (and C can use them too) http://www.tommeetippee.us/explora/546031.html

Besides lid and cup, you only have to keep up with the TT vent system (clear and white “snap in” parts). These are my favorite so far b/c there is no straw to keep up with or get lost in the abyss of the dishwasher. Hope this helps! xo
