BlogHer ’12 Day Three Daytime

posted by ninahelleny in DAILY DIARY
Today is my third day at BlogHer '12. It's been a really big day so far and I still have two parties to attend before I can crash. Everyone says, "you can't miss the Cheeseburgher party!" I desperately needed a rest session to be able to make it tonight, so I jumped in my hotel bed, fully clothed in my dress and flipped open my laptop.

I started the day with a really fun breakfast at Rue 57 hosted by Jenna of Bucktown Bargains and sponsored by Groupon, One Kings Lane, Tiny Prints, Wittlebee, Fanlala.com, and Escalate Network. I was able to connect with one of my fellow panelists, Keri Lyn of SheSaved.com and also Robert Glazer, the moderator for our panel. I've worked with Robert for a few years now all via the Internet. It was so nice to meet him in person.

After the breakfast, the three of us headed back to the conference to get ready for our session on Affiliate Marketing Programs as an Additional Revenue Stream. The session was a great success thanks to Robert, Alicia, Keri Lyn, Sally, and a room full of passionate bloggers.I will share the slideshow along with my notes from the session once I have the slideshow files. If you have any questions for me regarding the topic, please feel free to email me on the contact page above or leave a comment on this post. One of the three BlogHer founders, Lisa Stone interviewed Katie Couric as the lunch keynote speaker. Katie was fantastic! Here are a few of my favorite highlights from the interview:

"I can't stand proclamations about women can't have it all... We need to get beyond these mommy wars and BS."

"Every woman needs to figure out what works best for her family."

"Civil discourse has become an oxymoron; we have to have compassion even when we have different point of view."

"You can't buy into being marginalized. Be active. Be involved. Take chances."

"I start every morning on Weight Watchers & end every day off of it, but it does make you more mindful of portions."

"The internet unleashes anonymous vitriol. I spend a lot of time blocking them."

Last but not least, "I'm going to block his ass!" regarding haters and trolls.

She also told us her exercise of choice is spinning. She has a rockin' set of legs. You better believe you'll find me in the next spin class I can find! And if I can convince my husband to buy me an identical pair of Christian Louboutins to the ones Katie was wearing this morning, I would agree to spin in them!

Nina! …it was so fun to meet you in person, and I so hope that we get to hang out again in the future. That was such a fun panel, and so thankful to have met you! Now I get to add According to Nina to my list of daily inspiration, love it!

I also start every morning on Weight Watchers. I do wonderfully until dinner time. I feel a little better about that if Katie Couric does it too.

Love this! I’m so glad you’re having fun.  Rue 57 was one of my top 3 favorite brunch spots, I so wish I could have been there sipping mimosas and splitting some frites with you :)  I’m super interested in your presentation, I’ll pester you for a copy when you get home! Love you!
