Please excuse my not-so-professional photography skills. I could not get the camera to work with the massive amount of sun coming in that day. Oh well. You get the idea! The cabinets are a mix of cherry and black. The island top is solid butcher block. It's one of the most useful pieces in the entire house.
The drawers in the island have small slots in the fronts to hide bread, crackers, and anything else you put in drawers in your house. The candy drawer to the right is the first place the little kiddos go when they come over.
The hutch shows the color of the black a little better.
More kitchen.... look to the left... sneak peek of the Menu Wall.
The Menu Wall! My parents have been collecting menus since they were first married. The menus line the walls of their hallway that connects the kitchen, half-bath, wet bar, pantry, laundry room and garage all together. If you look closely, you can see the little slots below the menu covers. Kiks prints those out before she has the menus framed (1/2 off sale at Hobby Lobby, always), the cards have the occasion & date we were at the restaurant.
It's a hanging scrapbook, really. You are reminded of special occasions, vacations, birthdays... even when you are just going to the laundry room! I will most definitely keep this tradition going in my own house, as well.
I'm out of town on a mini-vacation. It's a shopping day for me. Time for a latte and a power breakfast. Nordstrom is our first stop! I hope each and every one of you enjoy your Saturdays to the fullest.
